MSU vs PSU

Looks like Rivals is a bit behind the game - they still have Davis listed as a solid verbal (#23 overall)...

they had a signing ceremony at his school a few months ago, he's solid to MSU.

This is the kind of class that i think we should bring in, one 5 star top guy and then some good supporting players that are more likely to be here for 4 years. Of course we have one more spot that could go to Biggie or go unfilled

Davis has already signed his LOI. And Swannigan and Davis are good friends and have talked a lot about playing together in college.

Davis is having a monster senior season so far, averaging 18 pts, 16 boards and 8.5 blocks a game. He grew over an inch and now is a legit 6-9+ player. We've never had a player like him under Izzo, he's the best shot blocker I have seen at the high school level since Alonzo Mourning. And he has wide shoulders too, reminds me of Anthony Davis in body type. Musgeon has a couple really good scorers on their team who will play DI in college, but Davis has a real nice jump shot and can play with his back to the basket. If he were on another team he has the offensive game to average 30 points a game. He tore up the toughest AAU league in the country last summer and was on the same team with Swannigan. He is now a top 20 player, but a lot of people think he is a top 5 talent.

I've seen Muskegon play 3 times this year. There are not 2 other players on this team that will play D1. Joeviair Kennedy is the next best player and he'd be better off playing football at the next level imo.

Also, I'd lower expectations a bit on Davis. He's still extremely raw. He's only been playing a few years. He's an amazing talent and getting better every day, but he's still got a ways to go offensively to make a huge impact in the college game. His defense is good enough to get him on the floor right now though.

I'm writing Swanigan off. We've seen this movie too many times - be a kids top choice for a year then watch him get more and more attention from dook, kentucky and ku and poof, he's gone. Might as well forget about him and if he ends up choosing MSU, then it will be a pleasant surprise rather than being let down and left wondering how much kentucky or ku offered him.
And I actually think that we have to worry about Davis now that he's a 5 star kid - I wouldn't be surprised if Calipari suddenly starts showing some interest. He could be another Tyler Ulis - man did we miss out there. That kid will be a rare 4 year player at Kentucky and he's already proven to be their best point guard.

Youre zoning in on my brainwaves. Im not as worried about davis but your assessment of Swanigan is what ive been thinking all along. No expectations for him coming. Huge list of school lots of courting and ass kissing. Youd think one of top 5 programs the last 20 years would be beating tops 100's off with a stick. Its looking like 2 years no Mcdonalds All-Americans (unless Davis sneaks in). No team has ever won a NC without one. We need to follow up next years class with 1 or 2 of those. Im not sure how much Izzo is on the recruiting trail, I fear hes getting burned out.
