Congratulations to him, he passed up other opportunities to stay this year, happy to see him get his own team. I think he has a deal with MSU where he is not allowed to bring anyone with him so you'd have to think Barnett and Tressell will be co O coordinators and they'll bring in another name to help with LBs or DBs.

The Dantonio coaching tree is going to grow a lot before he is done here.

Pitt alum here...he was my top choice, disappointed that Chryst left, but I think we have a hell of a replacement. He's got some nice pieces on offense with Boyd and Conner. Looking forward to 2015!

In Narduzzi you are getting one of the best and most innovative defensive minds in the country. It might take a couple years, but Pitt will have a great defense with him. His intensity is legendary, guy wakes up ready to punch a hole in a brick wall. He's really tough on his players and gets the best out of them.

Xs and Os wise he's absolutely ready for the job, going to take him a while to learn how to handle donors and te media though, Pat is rough around the edges. His teams are going to be tough and play with an edge and they're going to have character. I think Pitt is a great fit for him and the city is going to love him. Really has that Chuck Knoll or Bill Cowher type toughness that people in that city are going to love.

I think Narduzzi is the kind of coach that the players and fans love, but the administration has a hard time with. Narduzzi loves football and that's all he wants to do, however there are much more responsibilities when you're a head coach. He's a tenuous though, Pitt got one hell of a guy.

this is what comes with the territory, i have faith in our D because MD was a defensive coach before and we should be fine as long as too many of our coaches don't follow him to Pitt. I think that Barnett will end up as our DC and maybe Tressell as the DC at Pitt.

Great hire for Pitt. MSU likely needed to reduce their overall coaching costs and Narduzzi was bound to leave for a head coaching gig if Dantonio stayed put, so it makes sense for MSU too. It will definitely hurt MSU in the short run, but I'm sure that Dantonio will find a solid replacement to groom.

Cost has zero to do with it, the DC position is fully donor funded for years. Barnett and Tressell will be named co O coordinators.

Congrats to him, well deserved. This is a program he can win with, not some garbage MAC school or AAC school with little chance of improvement. I too think the defense will still be fine, not what it was under him but good enough to compete for titles.

I'd also bet Treadwell joins him in Pitt as OC or returns to EL if Narduzzi takes some offensive coaches with him

I know Narduzzi is coaching our bowl game, but I believe Pitt plays the day after, is he planning on coaching that game or no?

just observing that game

why not coach it as well? after all, why would he need time to prepare, he's simply the greatest thing since sliced bread???*

*however, even though this is true, his replacements are equally great and MSU's defense will not suffer due to his loss. It is important to hold these two conflicting thoughts in your head if you are a true MSU fan.

I think you know that you can't just show up and coach a game when you have no familiarity with the players, scheme, play book, etc.

We will miss Narduzzi, more so as far as talent evaluation which has been our strength. I think it helps that you have a head coach with a strong defensive background. We've lost coordinators before and haven't fallen off much.

I'm pretty sure there are things in place with the program beyond Narduzzi for it to continue taking 2 star recruits and turning them into NFL draft picks.

if you tell yourself that enough times, I'm sure that will make it true.

Funny coming from the guy who was jizzing all over himself 4 months ago in anticipation of Michigan's return to greatness and later in the year was jizzing all over himself in anticipation of Michigan's return to greatness the day Hoke was fired. Makes me laugh when losers like you criticize fans of other programs for being irrational.

Nothing wrong with having a little school spirit.

We haven't been taking 2 stars lately unless you consider justice Alexaner who was a rivals 2 star and immediately got a bump once we took him. OSU was after him right after terms that as well.

Talent development and player evaluation are key at every program, I think that's where Narduzzi will be missed most.
