New commish Rob Manfred says shorter MLB season is a possibility.

Any change to the length of the season would have to be collectively bargained with the Major League Baseball Players Association since it affects the working conditions of the players and could change the number of service days in a season.

The 154 game schedule was when there were 16 teams. You played the other 7 in your league 22 times. Now the amount of teams has doubled, and there is intra-league games throughout the season.
