Notable WR 40 times

Liked 4 guys today: Watkins, Beckham, Bryant, Mathews. Don't like Lee or Evans at 10. Beckham/Mathews in rd 2 or Bryant/Moncrief in rd 3 would be my targets. Liked Richardson but our 2nd round pick might be a bit too high to grab him there.

Moncrief looks great at the combine. There is going to be a run that starts in round 2 or three where a half dozen WRs comes off the board. Matthews, he's going to be an amazing pro. I want him to play next to CJ so bad, great all around player, and great character guy.

Matthews looked like the 2nd best wr to me in this draft.

I think you could make a case for him right now based on maturity/athleticism. Of course Evans, Lee, Beckham, Benjamin and Cook are in the conversation. Evans is right up there at #2 behind Watkins. Whatever way things shake out if we don't grab a wr in the first I will feel good about whoever we grab after that.

idk..we can get a solid #2 in the second..Watkins only for me at 10..if gone..2nd rd WR

I agree. If the Lions can't take Watkins with their 1st round pick, they should wait til the 2nd round to draft a WR. Which then begs the question who should the Lions take at #10 if Watkins is gone? I'm leaning towards Justin Gilbert.

gilbert or barr for me.

Interesting I hear some homer chatter wanting dennard but no one ever says Lewan and he is more often mocked higher than dennard (typically right behind us at 11). Lewan, Sims, Crayola, Warlord, Reiff would be a formidable oline.

Simply a case of the offensive line having a solid season and people have it in their heads that WR/CB have to be upgraded first regardless of who is available.

Some times I think you need to go by need or else you have certain areas that suffer, like our Detroit Lions secondary. I wouldn't balk at a good LT but right now the OL is good enough to win with..

Mid tier free agent (former 2nd round pick in Houston), use of 2nd round pick(Slay) and a 3rd round pick Bentley. The secondary has plenty of high picks. Two are young and developing. Mayhew tried to trade up for Patrick Peterson and Stephon Gilmore in 2011 and 2012 first rounds but those teams wanted too much. I don't think Dee Milliner solves our CB issue and gives us a big DE issue without Ansah. You draft BPA. Slay and Bentley just flat out need to get better and Houston returns to 2011/2012 form. Houston's 2013 performance does not mean he will always play at that level. Play varies. Or we finally get an opportunity to match CB need with BPA at 10 with Gilbert or Dennard but our WR need is more glaring IMO depending on free agency though.

What makes you think Houston is going to get back to 2011/2012 form? He's getting older and was the WORST corner on the Lions squad last year. We still do not need a corner in this draft, if all goes the way it should. Slay, Green, and Bentley will be starting, with Greenwood Houston and possibly Mathis backing them up.

He's healthier (foot and hamstring issues)
He's not that old
He's a good CB with good speed and technique and has shown that for more than one year. I'd say 2013 was an anomoly for him as a Lion compared to 2010-2012. 3 solid to good years to 1 down year (which is exaggerated how down a year it was).
Only CB to record a pick (2)

What makes you think that is a good secondary? Can never have too many CBs.

On a side note Kony Ealy disapointed a bit today. Mack and Barr were great, Clowney was outstanding. I think DE is in play.

ya he ran slower than I thought he would. big kid though. Overall I wasn't too happy with the DEs much at all. almost hoping pryor just blows everyone away to give us a reason to pick him or gilbert.

I could back a Pryor pick, even if Safety isn't really an impact position, the guy plays like a run away semi driven by the Incredible Hulk.

if we go safety, i'd rather have Clinton-Dix. he's a Tide product and plays disciplined football, and has a ton of range. something i think we will need if we're relying on stopping the pass more than last year.

i like Pryor, but he seems to have a little more to teach about the position. we also had the "thumper" type in Delmas.

overall, i don't think you can go wrong with either one, but i just think Ha-ha is the more pro-ready plug and play player right now.

I agree with this. Not sure I want another S who "plays like a run away semi driven by the Incredible Hulk."

I just dont want haha cause when he does something dumb I dont want to have to post "lol@haha" cause that could just get confusing.
