Per Andy Katz -- ND will stay in the Big East for hoops and Indy for football and would "join the ACC before the BigTen."

I guess getting your ass kicked by the states of MICHIGAN, OHIO and parts of (allegedly) inferior Indiana does that to you.

Fucking bitches!

wow the ACC? how the fuck does notre dame fit in with the ACC?

i also wonder who they'd drop from their non conference games.

I just seen this quote on ESPN. That right there is where the term "pieces of shit" fits perfectly.

I would love to see ND in the Big Ten. Brian Kelly's head would explode when he had to play Nebraska, OSU, UM, Wisconsin, and MSU in consecutive weeks. ND is a great football school but as long as they keep hiring POS's as coaches they will never get any better. I respect ND for their traditions but Brian Kelly is just a Bush league coach!

Plus I head they couldn't find their big boy pants!

Just heard more on this from a guy with SI --- comes down to ND being able to 'bully' the ACC whereas the BigTen with UM and Ohio would do the bullying .... Pussies!

this why its irritating that Bill Martin signed a 20 year contract with ND

fuck them!

They'd rather swim in a smaller pond. Quite a big step down from the pride they had as independents turning their noses up at the suggestion of joining a conf.

One of my good friends goes to ND and he would much rather be in the B1G.

This expansion shit sucks.

at that Michigan coaches event I went to over the summer, Dave Brandon asked for a show of hands on who wanted to play ND every year.

I was one of a small minority in the room that raised their hands for "NO." other alums gave us dirty looks.

I think it's a better rivalry when it's sporadic, like it was through the 80's and 90's. I like playing a revolving stream of PAC-10, Big XII, SEC, ACC OOC opponents.

DB also gave us his schpiel on how Michigan couldn't afford not to play 8 home games in a season, or whatever the number is, so that's why we can't do home-and-homes anymore. I don't know exactly how he reached that conclusion... as they said on MZone.net, if one of the wealthiest programs in the country can't afford to play another road game every other year, there is something seriously wrong there.

So is that the official spelling of schpiel? I've started to type it once or twice and couldn't come up with something I felt comfortable with.

I agree though, playing them every so often would make things more exciting. Let the animosity build up a little bit.

The second pronunciation is what I've always used. That is also why spiel never looked right.

All of the ND hate on here is a bit ridiculous...why did everybody think that ND would eventually cave and join the Big Ten? Sure it is still a possibility (I am a ND fan and I actually want them to join) but there are many LOGICAL reasons for the Irish to join the ACC.

ND has always been able to recruit nationally, do to their national schedule, but if they join a conference that will no longer be the case.

The South East and Mid Atlantic regions populations are growing much faster than the Midwest. If you are going to be tied to a conference for the next several decades you want to make sure there is a steady stream of talented players for you to be able to recruit..and nowhere is that more prevalent than the south. They would still be able to recruit in Illinois, MI, IND, and OH, but would now also have access to FL, GA, SC, NC, and VA talent pools.

Sure the Big ten would make ND more money but ND does not need money. They have $6.1 BILLION endowment and tons of alums..the ACC would provide more than enough.
