Obamacare has all ready doubled in cost

That's a lot of money to pay for rationed health care and wealth redistribution.

Some government subsidy of health care is a good idea. Giving private insurance companies a cut of that money is completely stupid.

cap and trade is also off the table if Mittens is the nominee...

I bet it was not even close to 90%.

I'm sure tsmith can cut and paste a reference from some right wing blog, or a Heritage Foundation press release to prove you wrong.

I'm not making excuses for Obamacare, but come on, throw out a bullshit number like that and you better be prepared to get called on it.

In 2010, 31% of Americans relied on the government for health insurance, up from 24.2% in 1999.

Weather you have health care or not isn't necessarily the problem for a lot of people.

I had shitty health care at a previous job and it was complete trash. While I was employed there I broke my foot, had to get surgery and it cost over $34,000 to fix my foot, of which I was responsible for over $7,000 out of pocket! $7000 for a broken fucking foot with health care. . .

And we're not talking about going to some all world specialist here. We're talking for roughly 5 doctors visits (2 before and 3 follow ups), a one day surgery + antibiotics/pain killers and an overnight in the hospital to be monitored. $34,000!!!!!

The truth is very few people can afford to get "really sick" or injured in the current system unless you're completely covered with an exception health care program.

Health care cost are the #1 cause of bankruptcy in America by a wide margin and its not just the people without coverage who get hit hard. Its the people who aren't 100% covered by Blue Cross Blue Shields and other five star providers.

I had health care this year....and last year....for my entire family. I didnt pay anymore for it.

No offense but thats pretty poor insurance. Something happens to me and my portion is capped at a 2k deductable.

Hughes,

I'm completely aware its piss poor insurance but its what they offered. And now I currently have no insurance. I quit that job to work for myself and earn more but I can't currently afford private health coverage.

Its was matter of priorities for myself and my son. I elected to be able to own a home, an automobile, and begin to save for his future rather than buy health coverage and be a broke renter riding public transportation! He's covered under his mothers insurance so if anything goes down its only me who's screwed and I'm prepared to live with that.

Unfortunately I'm afraid a very, very large portion of the current population is much closer to me than they are to you. Be thankful for it imo!

Slick,

If I didn't have my son I would gladly join you in the warm northern arms of Socialist Canada!

Another point of discussion though, Hughes, do you think its a good system if doctors and hospitals are billing insurance companies $34,000 for a 1 day foot surgery? To me that's the bigger issue.

i disagree...a very very large portion of the population cant afford a car, home and save for the future.

i really meant no ofeense by the insurance remark...i know a lot of businesses offer horrible coverage....its really a shame and thats where i feel any type of healthcare program is flawed. Saying everyone now has insurance sounds great....but when the insurance is fucking shit....then who really cares. People wont be able to afford it regardless. Its dumb...
