OL or Secondary

I know the season is not over but when the draft comes and if there is a CB or OL that grade evenly, who do you draft? After today's game, I say CB. What say you?

Both. Having Delmas back today would have definitely helped, but the secondary looked putrid. The OL is what it is and definitely needs upgrading as well.

scored 41 pts....gave up 45......Harris is garbage, Spievey has'nt progressed, Houston looked looked a step slow, not sure if his knee is 100%...would love to get a great Safety

It would really depend on the grade and the Oline position he would fill.

3 key improvements away from a super bowl winner IMO

#1 Scrap the wide 9
#2 Improve the running game
#3 Get a better kick returner

All good except for #3, I still think Logan is the guy. He's close to breaking one once a game. Just unfortunate this season.

lets be honest, logan is dumb lil dude with good speed and lateral movement.. other than that sweep play he had its not like hes ever gonna be a pass catcher, he's a liability with his size

size isn't the problem, all the fair catches with no one around him for 5+ yards however..

A kick returner/punt returner is now a low priority with the new kickoff rules. You're certainly not going to spend any money on one. Logan is a free agent but he only made 480k this year.

I think part of the reason why the O-line looked good today was because the Packers can't rush the passer, especially without Clay Matthews.

I would prefer O-line over CB because if we keep Stafford upright and have a running game, we can contend with just about anyone.

It'd be nice to get a DE in the mid rounds to try and get more pressure on opposing QBs.

I disagree. Size means nothing. He's always going to be a guy barely making a roster. The fact that his speed allows him to get the edge and nearly break one once a game gives him the benefit of the doubt. He's a great return guy / utility guy. He will stay a Lion.

ton of secondary help in FA this year at cb and S positions. Get oline help in the dradft.

Hard to say.

You'd think that we need to do O-line. They're very old and we need to develop some starters for the LT, and C position as Raiola and Backus aren't only mediocre, but they won't be able to play for too much longer either.

Although, our secondary is younger with Delmas, Spievy, Houston, Smith, Berry, Wright all being in their mid 20s.

We have this quarterback...

Matthew Stafford completed 36-of-59 passes for 520 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions as the Lions fell to the Packers in Week 17.
Due to the loss, the Lions will fall to No. 6 in the NFC seeding (assuming the Falcons win, which is likely) and head to New Orleans for the Wild Card round. Expect another shootout. Stafford finished the regular season having completed 421-of-663 passes (63.5 percent) for 5,038 yards (7.60 YPA), 41 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions in a true breakout year. The arrow is still pointing up for Stafford, who doesn't turn 24 until February. Scary.

Lets invest a little in protecting him. A first round CB is not likely to do much in year 1 anyways.....our O-Line is simply too old to ignore. Keep Stafford protected, and we'll have 10-12 years to fix the defense

Well hopefully both can be addressed in both FA and the Draft such that they not only are improved but actually have good depth to boot...especially at DB cuz the Lions go through about 100 DBs every year it seems.

Something to keep in mind is that we are no longer just grabbing talent in the draft to piece together anything that might work down the line. We are a playoff team trying to move closer to a championship. CBs generally take a few years to develop, even the best ones. Conversely, linemen often can walk right into the starting lineup and play to their potential. If two players have equal rating on our board, the lineman is more likely to produce for us right away (and thus get us that much closer to the superbowl). We would be better served targetting DBs in free agency when they are already developed and ready to take on a large role.

Its all going to based on grades but I seriously hope the guy who we take is an olineman. Having no running game makes me want to rip my hair out. If we go left tackle we can move backus to either rg or rt. Sorry but gosder still didnt look great only mediocre and backus with a bum peck still was better. Peterman is decent but backus or a draft pick could make that position better. And raiola still isnt going anywhere.

Good news ...its not like three years ago where are team sucks at half the positions. Are weak points are a couple db's, injury's, penalty's, and a couple old timers on the O-line. I would be happy with O line through the first 4 rounds and just be done with it and they get to mix in with our current O line for a year before they are replaced for good. Then, hopefully we can score a solid Corner and Safety in FA and call it a day. A little more discipline a lot less penalty's and we should be alright. Are Offense would be set for a while and you can just focuse on stacking that D with more talent.
