OT: 49yrs ago today ....

um... Bobby Orr's game winning goal nets the Bruins their 4th Stanley Cup.

That was 6-2-1967. (in the U.S)

I would have thought it was 6-2-1947.

That date was just about right in between the less than three months gap between the debuts of Jackie Robinson and Larry Doby.

It wouldn?t have been 20 years ago to the day, but pretty close.

Maybe that?s what the Beatles were talking about.

Maybe Sergeant Pepper is a composite of Branch Rickey and Bill Veeck.

Maybe the band represents Major League Baseball specifically and American society as a whole.

Some think they hit it out of the park. I'm not one of them anymore.

yep. Bobby Orr.

Not quite there yet, Tinsel ..I'm only 46 (for now). Will be in Encino next Thursday as well ...having lunch with a client who manages Suppan's account. I guess his place there closed down - best chicken wings ever!

I say that about those wings all the time.

His bio shows that he is currently the pitching coach for the Idaho Falls Chuckars of the Kansas City Royals baseball organization.

I guess he shows does young pitchers how to chuck those baseballs!

My buddy said it became a matter of the staff running him so he sold out and shut 'er down. Remember the chairs made to look like over-sized baseball gloves?

Of course I remember. I?m trying to post a picture.

Soup?s big glove seats.

Google images doesn?t let me embed images anymore but the link should work.

Also see what I did there? I made it sound like ?big love seats.?

Say hi to Daniel and Johnny for me. I heard the All-Valley Tournament is this weekend.

Bonus points for who drew the assist, who was the goalie and who tripped Orr to help him soar through the air:

Oh, never mind: Derek Sanderson, Glenn Hall and Noel Picard. We tried to imitate that, but it took a full 7 months to build the back yard rink, so there was a delay in gratification.

Tough to get that back yard rink going in Michigan in the May.
