OT: Xmas Dilemma

Santa went with the Kindle Fire HD - damn good deal at Best Buy and b/c I'm already Amazon Prime, there are a lot of discounts, etc. My wife had been lobbying the little guy about Kindle vs iPad and he asked Santa for a Kindle, so ....all's well I suppose.

8.9" or the smaller one? You did good either way.

I have one and love it. Can't say I would use the added capability of an iPad, although for people that have a need for it - there is no other choice. The things I use it for though - read books, play games, surf the internet, watch movies or internet TV - seem to work great. The Android Store is catching up to iTunes in number of apps. The added Amazon Prime benefits, and price vs. SDI space trade-off make it one of the best tablets out there.

. . . and if you are willing to root the device, you can even eliminate some of the annoying Kindle app behaviors, and of course keep everything else that you like.

Post back after Christmas, and let us know how he liked it.

Awesome!!! Pulled a sort of 'Christmas Story' and had the Kindle and case on the desk, partially covered. He thought he was all done but then saw them (or had seen them). My wife shot a vid I might post, but he was excited and fired up! For the record, the first thing he played with was his new chess set ....whipping Grammy good!

Vic, how is the boy again? I want to say 5. I like the idea of the chess set. We got our boy a puzzle of all the states and he picked them up quick. Thinking at his age he could pick up basic chess and could expand his horizons.
