Peppers tackle on CJ

I unfortunately...err, fortunately?...was unable to watch the game but saw a brief highlight of Peppers' tackle on CJ that resulted in the first fumble...and set the stage for a BAD day.

What I noticed was the tackle appeared to be a "clothesline" tackle across the throat. I only saw it from a bad angle and figure many other angles likely showed it better. Was it a legal tackle, or an illegal one that the refs missed? I remember seeing hits like that on historical footage back when clothesline tackles were legal, but these days those hits would draw a 15 yarder and fine $$$.

Appreciate the feedback, and not complaining as much as just trying to verify it was a legit hit as opposed to the refs blowing a very important call. Nonetheless, the way the game played out I seriously doubt the Lions had a chance since they obviously did not prepare well considering the advantage of the Bye week coupled with the Bears having a short week after playing Monday. Absolutely inexcusable performance that falls on everyone's shoulders.

Suh did the exact same thing to Cutler , and there was no call on it either,

I got no problem with Peppers tackle as long as they call it the same way for both sides.

they did...Suh went high on Cutler....no call

Yeah good no calls in the "everything is a 15 yard penalty" NFL.

Thought it was a little high at the time, but it was close. As soon as Suh did it and there was no call, i didn't care as much. I thought the refs did an outstanding job on this one. Two hated rival teams getting very chippy out there with each other. The refs turned a blinds eye on a few plays. Letting the boys be boys....

cool, like i said, didn't have a good angle as it was behind so couldn't see where Peppers had his arm. appreciate the info.

briggs and the dude that went after stafford prolly get fines. Fairley, stafford prolly get fines and mayyybe even suh if goodell is feelin frisky lol.

lol ya...will be interesting to see what they do there...was 5k last time and he just totally disregarded it and wore em again. 20k maybe...

I felt at the time like the Peppers hit on CJ was a clothesline tackle and felt like it should have been a penalty. I dont know what hit by Suh you are refering to however that was in the same realm as the clothesline. If its the one by him on cutler when cutlers helmet pops off that is always a clean hit. He grabbed him to take him down and cutler dropped his head causing him to go over the top and pop the helmet off. The fairly hit deserved a penalty but it wasnt a dirty hit it was a bang bang play when he was already in the grasp. The two plays that I thought were the dirtiest was that peppers hit and the CB that ran at Stafford after the play. utter horse crap. And the bears called the lions dirty what a joke.

it was a clothesline and a penalty... Sue would have been flagged for it...
