Pettitte back with Yankees

Certainly Pettitte is capable of making the Yankees' SP more formidable, if he can successfully make a comeback later in the season, which would be bad news for their contending rivals, being the Red Sox, Rays, and perhaps even the Jays, whose fans had gained a bit more hope for their team's potential to snag at least that second WC spot.

What can they expect? A 1.4 WHIP, 4.70 ERA? My guess is that he'll be a non-factor.

I think this is the Yanks grasping at straws. Their pitching hasnt been that great this spring and they are just praying that Pettitte can catch lightning in a bottle and win a few games.

AP is the same age bracket (actually a couple years younger) than Kenny Rogers when KR was in Detroit. I wouldn't be surprised to see him win 12 to 14 games if he stays healthy. I just don't see him doing all that well against good hitting team like the Rangers, Angels and Tigers. Hell, you can toss in the BoSox as well. Still, if he stays at or below 4 ERA/game he'll do o.k. Thing is, the NYYs are counting on Grandy, Cano and Gardner to hit well and for ARod & Tex to improve at least 20 points over last season and for Jeter to return to his glory days. Lots of ifs there and - if they have a rash of injuries - a .500 record or thereabout wouldn't be out of the question, as the Rays and Toronto, KC and a few other teams just might knock them not only out of the East but out of even the WC. That'd be something I'd drink to!

Yup, working can <s>sometimes</s> often suck (for most of us), but it is often an excellent escape/excuse route, until its gone temporarily or permanently from being pink slipped, laid off or retired.
