1-0. And Ryan Howard grounded out to end the game. And he couldn't finish running out the play. It looks like he has a very serious injury. Can't walk on his leg at all.

Amazing.... And no I do not want to face the Cardinals... Last time Tony took Jimmy to school... But then again if its them its them....

Carpenter pitches a complete game 3 hitter and Halladay gave up a first inning run and went 8 innings.

Sidenote...in all 4 of these playoff series the clinching game was a 1 run game. I love playoff baseball.

I agree to a point because of 2006. We were supposed to beat them and we didn't. Maybe subconsciously I prefer to be the underdog and not the favorite.

Since we knew we were going to make the playoffs, I've basically adopted the mantra that I don't ever care who we play. We play who we play. I'm a bit skiddish of the phrase "be careful what you wish for" so I don't root for us to play certain teams.

if you notice the 4 teams left were pretty much the hottest teams to end the season...

I know I need to just root to beat the rangers and we play who we play but the cardinals scare me more then the Brewers for some reason..

Tigers take out the team with the best record in the AL, Cards take out the team with the best record in the NL. Not looking forward at all but dang rematch of 06 is a real possibility. Redemption?

Everyone scares me. We are not world beaters, so I will always be nervous. We can hang with anybody and we can lose to anybody. I'm just going to try and enjoy the ride in a miserable, painful, stress filled ball of sweat that Tiger playoff baseball creates for me.

Man O Man the Tigers next World Series may be vs the Cardinals and could become...gulp...their 2nd in a row and the 3rd out of the last 4?!?

Does. not. compute.

Yikes!!

???

Reminds me of the UFC fights where they rematch each other "Cardinals we can do it again!"

If we both get to the WS, we would have faced the Cardinals in 3 of our last 4 WS appreances and the 4th time overall we've faced them in the WS.

honestly the Phillies were the only team I felt we had no shot of beating...

No worries. I want the Tigers to beat Texas and if they play the Cards again, so be it. They could have Stan Musial and Bob Gibson for all it matters.

I live for a Tigers-Cardinals rubber match in my lifetime.

Good point..

So were the Packers last year in the NFL ...and the Rockies in '07 until the tv networks forced them to sit and wait 12 days for the faggot red sox to come back against the Tribe.

Never count a Tony LaRussa team out.. Amazing.. BUt the simple fact was the Philly offense was a total and complete abortion...
