Tuesday marks the one-year anniversary of Stan Van Gundy's decision to outright release Josh Smith with two years and $26 million left on his contract. Those Pistons were at their 5-23 nadir at the time and are 43-39 since, peeking over .500 thanks in part to their East-leading three wins in OT after that marathon they won in Chicago.

PISTONS NOTES

Still tired: Three days later, Reggie Jackson was still feeling the effects of a 147-144 four-overtime win over the Chicago Bulls. It was the longest game in franchise history and the Pistons had Saturday off, with Jackson joining Andre Drummond in Grand Rapids to watch Jennings in his rehab stint, before returning to practice Sunday and Monday. "I'm still feeling it. But we've got another game," Jackson said. "I think everybody's still a little tired. Of course, you're dealing with the weather change and everything. Probably a little sinus infections, some people are still trying to get over those. I think we're starting to get our legs, so we'll see and get ready for the test (Tuesday)." Jackson said he and his teammates remained wide awake leaving the United Center Friday night before everyone eventually crashed. "Probably when we got on the plane," Jackson said. "We were excited and finally it just hit us. Adrenaline shut down."

Another back-to-back: Detroit kicks off back-to-back No. 8 of the season Tuesday, continuing Wednesday in Atlanta, with two more teams holding better records than it in the Eastern Conference. The Pistons are 3-3 against during this 10-game stretch in which they play nine teams with better records. The Celtics, who began the run with a better record, now sit one game behind Detroit in the standings ahead of a post-Christmas matchup Saturday at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

Miami nightlife: There's a lot for players to do in south Florida, and no one knows that better than Stan Van Gundy, who spent more than a decade with the Miami Heat. The team arrived Monday night, allowing players the night to go out ahead of Tuesday's 7:30 p.m. game at American Airlines Arena. "I always have my say," Van Gundy said. "Whether it does any good or not, I don't have any idea. Tim (Hardaway) and I were on the other side of that, Quentin Richardson at times, but Tim and I were on the other side for a long time. I know what can happen down there."

Meijer shopping spree: The Pistons and five players -- Reggie Jackson, Marcus Morris, Stanley Johnson, Joel Anthony and Anthony Tolliver -- surprised 20 from Yatooma's Foundation For The Kids with a shopping spree Sunday at Meijer, 21431 Grand River Ave. in Detroit. The event was part of the Pistons' "Season of Giving" charitable events held around the state this holiday season.

Pistons were up a bit at halftime. Game is tied at 63 in the third..

AD with two free throws to put us up three.... He was already 3 for 4..

Yup he missed both...

Wade Misses... Then AD misses both free throws... Then after a timeout Bosh had a wide open shot with 1.1 and clanked it :)
