D-8 Championship Preview Enrollment in (parentheses)
Friday November 29th 10:00

Beal City(249) 12-1 vs Reading (232) 12-1. Both are public schools.

12-1 Reading is the defending D8 champion beating Breckenridge in last years final 39-20 winning the first title for the Rangers. They are 381-258-11 since 1950. They have made playoffs 18 of the las 22 years. They undefeated last season and the only blemish this year was to PW who is in the D7 title game. Points for and against for the Rangers is stellar 565-95. The defense has 4 shutouts and 4 other games they held the opponent under ten points. They have only really been tested once in the playoffs a few weeks back. They are 1-0 in state championship games.

Slightly larger Beal City also comes in at 12-1. The points for and against are 356/156. Since 1950 The Aggies are a fantastic 477-211-3. This season the defense has 3 shutouts, and 2 other games under ten. Since 1980 Beal City has only missed the playoffs in 1986,89,99, and 2017,18. That is amazing. They Aggies have been to the championship game seven times. They have a 2-5 record in title games. They had back to back losses in 2012/13. I do think Beal City has played a much tougher schedule having a much tougher playoff run.

Sticking with Reading -8

Beal City forces a 3 and out pretty easy on the first possession against the defending champs, and the Rangers from Reading did the same thing. This may be shaping up as a defensive struggle and a field position game. Reading has to Punt on their second possession.
Beal City second possession up coming. Holy crap Reading has a 287 pound nose tackle , and they get the first turnover and a short field. Holy crap his brother is 305 wow !

I am very impressed with both teams on defense so far. The team that can complete some passes will probably win. 3rd 10 Reading completes a 18 yard td pass and passes for the 2 point conversion 8-0 Reading.

Mshaa Michigan is using replay. No coaches challenge it comes from the booth. Only on scoring plays and turnovers. Reading gets the first overturn on a interception on a throw away. Rangers get another short field. But tried a double hand off and fumbled ball right back. Reading forces a punt.

Reading 8-0 after one. Both defensive are stopping the run. Beal City forces another Punt. Good field position for BC. Finally BC throws and gets a nice long 56 yard td pass. 2 point conversion is no good.
Reading leads 8-6. Neither team is running very good at all. So who ever can pass will win I think.

Beal City tried a line drive kick and the up guy caught it and almost ran it back. Reading Fumbles on the next play Bc ball on Bc 37.

Beal city forces punt and it looks right now Reading is getting frustrated on offense as the Smaller Aggies are hanging with the Rangers 15/yard return to the plus side of the field has them set up at the Rangers 40.

Reading forces a punt and gets a few flags and a back breaking td pass from 40 yards makes it 14-6 at the half as 2 point run fails. Beal City gets the 2nd half kick .
5:05 of the third Reading 10 play drive all running drive after a 4th down stop and now lead 20-6 after 2 point play was missed. Reading is wearing down the smaller Beal City Aggies . 29 td run 26-6 1:02 left in the third.

Reading wins 33-6 over Beal City. Back to back D8 state titles for Reading as they end up 13-1. Beal City ends season at 12-2. Looks like those Brothers for Reading are going to play ball at Hillsdale if they don?t get any d1 offers from a Mac school. I guess they have another brother brought up from Jv. Not sure why Reading isn?t taking a knee up 26-6. I guess getting younger kids reps.
