I don't think it is as bad as it seems. We don't have any elite prospects, but only because Larkin made the team so quickly. We have good youth at the nhl level already, and the players on the cusp (forwards) are a good fit for our needs. Obviously the blue line is weak, but there's still some hope for Oullet amd Sproul. The team is probably forced to look for a trade on the blue line anyway.

Mantha's hype has vanished into thin air. He is a good player and room to grow, however, there are no roster spots in Detroit.

Lets assume Franzen is LTIR and not competing for a spot. That leaves 2 spots between Jurco, Athanasiou, and Pulkkinen. I think Pulkkinen is hurt so thats Jurco and Athanasiou taking the 13/14 spots.

Obviously there is no room in Detroit. Even last season Jurco/Pulkkinen were the odd man out. Which is ludacris.

Pretty ridiculous how Holland never want to even try a youth movement. Like hammer says they just must not like Mantha anymore. They are so clogged at foward there is no room for the younger guys it seems.

Wings were ranked 3rd two years ago and 9th last year by hockeysfuture.com which is usually pretty spot on.

They haven't done this seasons rankings yet (usually release them in sept) but it makes sense the wings would drop since Larkin and Teemu are no longer eligible. (Teemu hasnt done much in the Pros, but he has dominated all of the minor leagues, and is still a high rated prospect).

I dont think the wings are 21st in the league..Id say 15ish is about right. Our forwards are freaking stacked Mantha, AA, and Svechnikov have top line potential. Our D prospects are average at best, and our goalies are garbage now that Mrazek has hit the NHL.

Mrazek was highly touted since his performance at the World Juniors. Last season he proved he was the "real deal".


Pulki is being mismanned due to lack of roster spots in same manner that Jurco is. Difference is Pulki has a beaming right handed shot which the Wings need to take more advantage of.

I secretly hope Detroit trades Jurco to a team which will actually bloody use him. Ditto for Pulki if he's forced to watch most of season from rafters.
