Espn just completed a redraft which made me think of how many people we passed on and what crap we got in return. Lets start with our favorite fuck up...2014.

2014 -
1) Pick 10...we draft our first top 10 TE (foreshadowing). Eric Ebron!
Redraft) Aaron Donald, DT

It was the right choice by a mile. If i remember correctly we had 2 DTs that we werent going to be able to resign leaving a HUGE hole. Instead we went MUN. Come to find out you didnt have to cover him at all cause he would just drop the ball all by himself! Nice one Lions!

2) Kyle Van Noy. Really great pick if you look at it now. Multiple super bowl champion. When he was a lion we didnt play him and he sucked. Nice job Lions!

2015

1) Pick 28...Laken Tomlinson. Really great pick if you look at it now. Went to the 9ers and is part of one of the best rushing olines in football. He sucked when he was here....theme going if you havent noticed.

Redraft) Landon Collins. Weve lacked a gamechanger at the safety position the last 5 years.

2) Abdullah lol

2016

This draft had zero talent at the top.

1) pick 16 we select Taylor Decker. Was proabably the right pick.

2) Passed on Michael Thomas for Ashawn Robinson :D

2017

1) pick 21 we select Jarrad Davis. I get it..we needed Lbs bad. It was him or Rueben Foster.

2) Teez Tabor...the slowest corner in the history of the NFL. We picked in rd 2.
Redraft) Keep the rd 2 Rbs streak alive!...Alvin Kamara.

2018

1) Pick 20. Frank Ragnow. Yup...our oline blows. Good pick but you could have...
redraft) Lamar Jackson!

2 redraft) Christian Kirk over Kerryon Johnson.

Offense
WR) Golladay Kirk Thomas
RB) Kamara
QB) Lamar Jackson

Defense
DT) Aaron Donald
S) Landon Collins

Complete unknown Suh and Fairley would be gone. Donald had flags of being undersized but yeah in hindsight would have been a great pick. Ngata did a good job in 2015-2017. Also eventually we would have to give Donald 22 million per to eat up the cap. Would he have left too like Suh did for money. Would Lions offer 22 per to him. We might be Donald-less in 2020 as well.

KVN Lions ran a completely different defense. Would be great to have with Patricia's defense though but 2018 is when he would be a FA the first time which is when Patrica came on.

Abdullah was highly regarded prospect. The Cardinals GM had a stroke on tv when they Lions took him and he was ready to take them. They had to "settle" for David Johnson and got super lucky. Abudllah was good until the random foot injury. Then a year off then a bad year. Backs are hit and miss sometimes plus injuries makes it complicated.

2016 added Marvin Jones who has been good and Golden Tate was a good WR. They had zero need for Michael Thomas. Saints got lucky a 2nd rounder would be that good. AShawn was a solid choice but never put it altogether with pass rush. And paying Donald and Michael Thomas at the same time. Thats alot plus Stafford.

Davis drafted in a different scheme. Now forced into Patricias scheme. Tries to do too much and gets burned despite great size and speed.

Yeah Tabor sucks and was a bad pick. Quinn has many good picks but this was a bad one. He made up for it with Golladay in Round 3.

Ragnow stud. Kerryon Johnson is a good and better player than Kirk. KJ had injury and run blocking woes, not talent problems. 709 yards and 3 TDs for Kirk, yeah give me Marvin Jones instead of him. Amendola was just as good as Kirk.

Lamar had big time passing question marks and still has to follow up. One sht to the leg and he's RGIII. Plus Stafford was good. Flacco sucked so Ravens could trade back into 1st to get Lamar. Don't forget the Ravens took Hayden Hurst TE in the draft before they took Lamar Jackson. Hurst was the priority for Jackson over them.

Also Stafford was great in 2016, 2017 so no way you take Lamar in 2018. Stafford great in 2019 too.
