solid pick....Sam Linebacker when Durant is gone....nice job by MM picking up a 6th and Lewis.

Schwartz loves the size at Sam , another guy who may contribute here and there in 2012 but look for him to compete to start in "13

Here's a question someone asked Gosselin in chat about him.

Ronnell Lewis which scheme/position do you think he best projects to in the NFL?

3-4 OLB?
4-3 SAM?
4-3 DE?
Other?

Probably a 4-3 SLB. He's a real tweener. Way too small for 4-3 DE. Might be able to play 3-4 WOLB in the right system.

Right now, I don't know where to place him in the draft. He has the physical talent and demeanor of a late 1st rounder but I haven't seen the technique or discipline at SLB to make me rate him that highly. If he shows the talent to drop off in coverage effectively along with great athleticism, I think I'd call him a 2nd rounder. Otherwise, he's a 3rd. The issue for him is that the Sam LB spot is becoming less and less of a priority with all the nickel played. But his pass rush value does make him more valuable than the normal Sam.

I doubt he starts. A wild, fast, beast to rush the QB? Strange pick but they must know exactly what to do with him.

We go through linebackers like water lately it seems anyways. With Ekejubah gone, and Carpenter gone, it's a good pick. Probably get good field time out of him this year on ST and occassionally with the D. I like it

they will use him like they used J Pete.

I think getting him opens up the possibility to run some new schemes. I wish they would try out a 3-4 scheme occasionally especially with some of the DL and LB talent they have. Obviously I dont mean as a base scheme just as a change of pace.

If this guy really is a tweener, could Lions use him similar to how Giants use Kiwi? Could be moved to DE on 3rd and long to get more speed and athleticism coming after the QB. Lions would be very smart to model their D more after the Giants, IMHO.

I'm sure Schwartz will figure it out and let us know in short order.

pass rushing specialist.

We already have one of those and he costs 10.6 mil. I understood the pick if we thought he could move to OLB....now i dont get it. a 230 lb situational de in rd 3...nice.

Who is saying this, one guy from a website? I'll wait until coach says how he'll use him.
