Rothstein on Lions FA moves from 2014

Just get a backup CB that can return kicks/punts, dump Ross and get a better 3rd receiver. Probably easier said than done (haven't seen what's out there yet), but it would fill a couple holes.

Backup CBs who are returners typically aren't the best CBs. Lions shouldn't be wasting the 5th or 6th CB spont on returner unless he can actually play CB well. Slay, Mathis, Lawson,Bentley, so two spots remain.

I'll waste backup slot WR with Ross or 4th RB though for a return man. Ross contributed more than Logan ever did so moving up in the world a little. Keep Ross but give him competition and hope Ebron/Fuller develop is one option. Or draft a WR in Rounds 1-3. Round 1 if you want your eventual Calvin replacement ready by 2016/2017.

Draft ODB jr @ 10

oops...wrong year!

Nobody thought he would be that good. Ebron was rated higher properly.

You guys are the hindsight kings. Where were you on draft day for OBJ?

I'd also like to see year 2 and beyond before we really judge.

Actually most had ODB jr was rated higher than Ebron.

I didn't want a WR there...I wanted a DT & OL in the first 2 rounds.

He did not fail with Nate. 2010 and 2011 good. 2012/2013 injury. 2013 he took a pay cut too.

Titus solid in 2011 then insane. Nobody goes from kid with bad attitude to insane.

Broyles is all injury and then they got Tate and Ross was the return guy in 2014.

He also re-signed Calvin and found Tate.

I have to agree that it's pretty lame people keep bringing up Titus Young.

His frigging noggin got squished. He melon was popped. And it happened as a Lion... apparently.

There is no way to predict that a guy's brain get compressed into the front of his skull and he suddenly loses his shit all together. There were no signs of it prior to the draft, and he was productive until he went all Hannibal Lecter.

Let it go guys.

Some picks don't get interviewed before hand or have pr-draft visitis. But Young was not that crazy before this incident. We are talking robberies and endangering his own life.

If I am considering drafting somebody in the first few rounds I am going to interview every single one of them. Too big of an investment not to do your due diligence.

You only get a certain amount of pre-draft visits. If those guys go off the board or you use them on Round 1, then that's it. Might not want to tip your hand either with those visits.

Plus someone can act normal for a day if there is money and job on the line. Maybe he took his meds that day.

Titus never had a predraft visit to Detroit.

It's tough to say how much stock you should put into pre-draft visits. Pro Football Talk explored the topic last season and determined 21 of the 32 first-round picks from the 2011 NFL Draft either privately worked out or visited the franchise that drafted them.
Count Nick Fairley among that group. The defensive tackle from Auburn came out to the Detroit Lions practice facility for a pre-draft visit one week before the draft.

11 first round picks in 2011, never visited their team. Fairley did visit Detroit.
