The article says Rudock is the #3, but he's quickly learning. Nobody thinks he'll be the #2 this year. At least I don't lol

I feel like Dan O would need to step out of the end zone in all 4 preseason games to lose #2 this season.

Who was trying to sign him? The Bears?

Yes.

Lions activate Jake Rudock from the practice squad.
The Lions made a small, but surprising move on Wednesday.

The obvious question is why? Rudock is almost certainly going to be inactive on game day, so why bother wasting a roster spot on someone who isn’t going to play? As Kyle Meinke notes, it could be a move to protect Rudock from getting poached by another team. Teams are free to sign any player off of another team’s practice squad, provided that they sign them to their active 53-man roster.
A team like the Chicago Bears could be searching for some young quarterback talent now that it appears Jay Cutler’s season, and perhaps career, is over in Chicago. By signing Rudock to the active roster, he is untouchable by any other team. Rudock was drafted in the sixth round last April.
Dave Birkett confirms it was the Bears that tried to sign Rudock: The Chicago Bears are the team that tried to sign Jake Rudock. Lions didn't want to lose him, obviously.

The powers that be must see enough in Ruddock to believe he can be a quality QB in this league......otherwise......why waste the roster spot.

Danny O's days are numbered.

Sounds like the Bears tried to sign him off of our PS so we either had to add him to the 53 or lose him

We should just cut Orlovsky. It's not like anyone is going to pick him up....If we need him, he be on his couch.
