Saints game not a complete loss

Okay, the Lions lost which most expected. The Lions had 3 stars from their defense not playing, and still managed to give the Saints some fits. In the late 3rd or early 4th quarter the Lions were within striking distance of notting the game up at 24, but fell short. I saw 2 things that somewhat surprised me during this game though. One being Nick Fairley trying to fill Suhs shoes, and looking very promising doing so. I even recall an announcer saying Fairley was taking over the game early on. If this guy can stay healthy, he is going to have a great career, and IMHO he will without a doubt be in Suhs class by the end of next year. This guy is going to cause mayhem when he gets healthy, and is actually alot better against the run than what I expected. I cannot wait to see Fairley and Suh lined up next to each other game in and game out. They could be the reason the Lions win-out in their last 3 games. I also was glad to see the Lions 2010 interception leader playing last night. Overall, I thought he played pretty well last night, and Im still wondering why he has been so limited this year, given what he accomplished last year. He is a ballhawk, always has been, and hope to see alot more of him down the stretch.

Everyone expected the loss, doesnt change the fact that Fairley was playing extremely well, and that Smith played well. With Houston, Delmas, and Suh out, I expected much worse.

Maybe the Lions should be 7.39-4.61. We'd be ahead of Chicago. Sweet.

Not talking about the record, Im talking there were some positive aspects I took from the game. Jesus, whats up with all the "doom and gloom"? The Lions lost, I know this, but some players still played good games, and filled the role of missing starters.

I'd say it wasn't a complete loss because it might serve as a wake-up call. The mistakes that took place vs Green Bay were overshadowed by Suh. This week, no one can shy away from their stupid penalties. I hope this makes the Lions wake up.

They still have a golden opportunity to make the playoffs. Chicago isn't winning another game, Dallas and NYG play each other twice, and I think the Lions have some favorable games ahead of them. Minny won't have AP next week, Oakland just got obliterated by Miami and probably won't have McFadden, San Diego will probably have an interim head coach by the time we play them, and Green Bay might be resting their starters.

I wouldn't be surprised if 9-7 made it in, but the Lions really SHOULD win 3 of 4 to close out. Hopefully, this game will give them more discipline for the final quarter of the season

Personally I'd rather have them play bad and win but that's just me. And I'm not doom and gloom over a game but they lost. There's no hidden meaning.

K, maybe I should go with the norm post on this board. Pettigrew sucks, Titus Young is a retard, Eric Wright is a fucking bum, Chris Harris shouldnt be in the NFL, Nate Burleson needs to be cut, the Lions are going to lose every game from here on out because they have no discipline. The Lions Suck. All the negativity on this board is depressing, and it seems like nobody is willing to see any good in what is happening with the Lions right now. We have a serious shot at winning out, especially with Stafford looking alot better without the gloves on and the finger for the most part healed. Im optimistic about the remainder of the year. Everybody needs to quit crying

The thing I liked about last night was Stafford seems to be healthy. This is the first loss this season where I don't put a good portion of the blame on Stafford.

Yet they only scored 17 points. That doesn't make me feel any better.

So a few cuts do that shit during a game. I wouldn't take it to heart.

Points were basically taken off the board due to players doing stupid acts after the play though, Staffords play was phenominal last night, take away a few penalties, and he mightve passed for 500 yards last night. Why try to take away from how sharp Stafford was last night?

The biggest play of the game was right before the half. He had Pettigrew wide open for a TD that would have made it 24-14 but he missed it. I wouldn't call that phenomenal!

Yeah well Brees missed passes too. In fact I think Rodgers missed a pass this season. He had a good game. Penalties were a big cause to losing.

Good game is one thing....the other guy said it was phenominal. Brees and Rodgers don't miss that pass though.

Considering Stafford has only 1 playmaker on offense, it was phenomenal. Probably his most complete game as a pro

1 TD and 1 INT. He has had several games that were better.
