Republican presidential candidates quickly denounced the ruling.

"I disagree with the Court's ruling and believe they have once again erred in trying to correct the mistakes made by President Obama and Congress in forcing Obamacare on the American people," said Florida Sen. Marco Rubio. "I remain committed to repealing this bad law and replacing it with my consumer-centered plan that puts patients and families back in control of their health care decisions."

"Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said he was "disappointed" by the ruling."

"But this decision is not the end of the fight against Obamacare," he said. "As President of the United States, I would make fixing our broken health care system one of my top priorities."

Yeah, sure... but not a peep from the Rightwing about HOW they would "fix" our healthcare system since the ACA was implemented.

I haven't followed this case closely; the ACA & surrounding rhetoric, misinformation, and the healthcare industry in general is infuriating to me.

My understanding was that Roberts created a real mess trying to please everyone in the opinion he wrote on the earlier case. I don't believe this one involved the same issue, but this ruling hasn't received the same amount of bad press (except for the howls of pain from the GOP presidential candidate clown car, which are easy to dismiss).

The ACA has been in effect for several years, and obviously last Friday's SCOTUS ruling on LBGT legal marriage is a much more divisive hot-button, and potentially ratings-profitable issue.

Now the rightwing believes that the gubmint is gonna ban the sale and public screening of their precious "Gone With the Wind" movie classic, in addition to taking away their beloved racist Confederate flags.

But IMO, these past coule of weeks has slapped the rightwing down HARD, and it wouldn't surprise me if they try to obtain some measure of revenge late next year in droves going to their district's voting booths.

I think John Roberts is going to find himself persona non grata at a lot of DC right-wing social functions.

Grayson is HOR member Alan Grayson from Florida, right?

Why do you think Sanders would pick him? Has he indicated that?

Not that I think Sanders has that much of a chance of gaining the Democratic nomination...

Anyone see last nights episode of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver?

It was funny to see 2 of the courts conservative justices argue over the interpretation of 4 words in the entire ACA. It seems Scalia is loosing his marbles.

it's not all good news coming out of the Supreme Court though... they just upheld Oklahoma's "we can't get safe lethal injection drugs anymore, so whatever household chemicals our executioners cobble together will have to do, even if they result in substantial pain, torture and lingering misery for days prior to death" method of execution as constitutional, i.e. not a violation of the 8th Amendment.

No, a Veep isn't picked until after being nominated. Grayson is just my fantasy pick IF Sanders was to win the Democratic nomination.

I think that the death penalty is a violation of the 8th amendment.

I agree. That's now the position of the dissenting judges as well.

based on the commentary I've read, Alito's reasoning seems to be that if the states decide to allow capital punishment, any means to that end are justified. If all Oklahoma had was a vat of boiling oil, they could go back to boiling people alive under this reasoning.

the dissent states that if that is capital punishment, then their position is that capital punishment is cruel and unusual, and therefore unconstituional.
