"To each according to his contribution"? I get the Marxist thing, but don't really get the significance of the edit. Capitalism made to look like Marxism, is that the joke?

No.

"From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs" is the better known quote, but the one shown is also in Marx's Critique of the Gotha Program as part of a description of the transition to communism to capitalism.

EDIT: I should explain that Marx's rational was founded in his belief that under capitalism, private property owners are the recipients of more than they contribute.

If you love socialism, then feel free to move to a socialist nation and bash the US.

Socialism is far from perfect. You need to have enough people putting into the system to allow the wealth to be redistributed to the poor. As nations have more people not working but taking from the government, the system fails.

It can be argued that the decline in US economy has been the result of socialist practices becoming increasing larger. More welfare, Medicaid, etc has meant less for education and other things that help preserve the necessary support structure to sustain a healthy economy, not to mention it continues stripping money from Social Security.

Capitalism isn't perfect; however, when things go really bad in capitalistic system, companies fail, government temporarily steps in, new companies fill the voids, economy returns to state of stability. When socialism fails, government has no resources to prop up the system temporarily because they are the same system that has failed. The typical way the socialist nation improves...well that requires a revolution usually.

Have there been many or any capitalist revolutions? The French and American revolutions were more about Liberty which is a requirement of capitalism but they weren't about capitalism itself.

The typical way a socialist nation improves is they liberate their economy and adopt free market reforms. Like Australia.

I wonder if people used that same brilliant logic when anyone else was fighting for change in this country in the past.

"If you women want to vote, move to New Zealand!"

"If you people don't think slavery is awesome, move to Britain!"

"If you want to legalize gay marriage, move to Denmark!"

I'm willing to bet they did. Surely this country is perfect and is no need of change. (especially if your respective political party is in power, then NOTHING can go wrong!)

This is what people use when they've run out of arguments. They forget, sometimes temporarily, how to form their debate and go into attack mode.

Also, I do believe some people on here need to learn how Social Security is funded and why it's actually in trouble. HINT: It has nothing to do with welfare/medicaid.

And if you don't like it, you can move to Raqqa!

I'm not even saying socialism is the answer either, I just hate that ignorant fucking retort and I see it all the time.

There's nothing ignorant about it. Socialism and the tyranny needed to put it in place doesn't belong here in the US and if you want it, you can get it elsewhere freely. Socialism has never lifted the masses out of poverty - it has only perpetuated or worsened poverty. Capitalism and democracy have lifted more people out of poverty than any other economic and political systems. It's not even close. Memes like this are what is ignorant - of course it's satire, but the people who make them and the moron's who giggle at them and post them on this site actually believe it's true. Like Thomas Sowell said "Socialism in general has a record of failure so blatant, only an intellectual (or an idiot who thinks he's an intellectual) could ignore or evade it." That quote is almost word-for-word.

You don't see what's wrong with that statement? It's meant to be funny, not intelligent conversation. By your logic, if a joke/story/meme is 'ignorant', it isn't funny. You must be a fucking blast at parties.

Are the people that think socialism is amazing going to get a bigger kick out of this than the people who don't? Sure. Doesn't mean the people that are against socialism can't have a chuckle and move the fuck on.

That's odd, because I'm not on the 'socialism rocks' train and I found it funny. Maybe that's because I have a pulse.

Switch from tighty whities to boxers, smoke a joint, bang your wife...do SOMETHING. Going through life taking everything so damned seriously isn't healthy.

agreed. I think there's a good combination already in our country, but the problem is that we've allowed manufacturing jobs to leave the country in the name of making more money off of cheap labor. If we ever brought those back to the U.S., it'd solve a lot of our problems.

Sgg...i am so sorry that I upset you to the extent you became so irate as to post what you have.

I promise to never post anything like that again.

Thank you for straightening me out.

Only thing left for me to do is fuck off and die.

Wait...you got bent because of my post, but someone else needs to do these things.

Got it.

Just making sure, not trying to upset you here.

What was obviously missed with my comment to champ is that it is actually sincere. He hates capitalism and prefers socialism so much, I am wishing he could move to a socialist nation in order to be happier. I'm not saying "get the fuck out" as much as "moving might help you be more at peace".

US is capitalist, but anyone is free to move to a different nation that one might find more enjoyable. It is certainly easier than trying to change the US to socialism.

Struck a nerve? Why are you so angry? Apparently you're the one having a hard time following the plot here - again. I acknowledged it was satire then said idiots like champ know the meme is satire but they also actually believe it's true. Got it? I'm not taking the meme seriously or saying you can't see humor in it.

Do you not see the irony in your posts where you rage about what you think is an ignorant statement then go off on an unhinged, expletive laced rant making ignorant statements about peoples underwear, sex lives and recreational drug use? Talk about fun at parties. What's your personal record for consecutive parties without getting in a fight? Just kidding, I know you don't get invited to parties. You spend your time watching MMA and beating off in your mom's basement. Let the anger go, internet tough guy. Maybe find an MMA chat room to talk to other idiots about how cool the dumbest sport on the planet is - you probably already do that, don't you?

Your exact words: "and the moron's who giggle at them and post them on this site actually believe it's true."

I thought it was funny. By your logic, I think it's all true (I do not). Got it?

If a couple swear words means I'm raging, then I guess most people on this site rage quite often. But I'm pretty sure there isn't a correlation between the two. At the end of the day I'm not the one telling people to leave the country if they don't like it here. You can color it any way you want, but that's exactly what was said. It's ignorant.

I've re-read what I posted twice, really not sure where one would think I was super duper angry. Is it because I used the 'F' word? If my potty mouth offended anyone, I'm sorry.

Has nothing to do with your retort but the condescending voice that was interpreted, potentially erroneously.

Champ is constantly bashing at capitalism. It is not just his propaganda being called into question, but his health. Honestly seems he needs to find the socialist country closest to UM. I'm shocked he chose to move to Houston and not a more socialism friendly nation. Canada would have been a healthier option, imo...and still potentially close enough to attend UM games.

Maybe the pay was better in Houston, but that goes against his socialist views. Had to be some other factors than just money. His wife is Ukranian, so while possible she has family in Houston, it is doubtful.

To each their own, his life, his choice...just not sure his health and peacefulness were balanced enough into the computations.

He posted it from The Onion.

Yet you and the other nimrod believe he is sincere.

You two just got the shit trolled out of you if you think anyone, anywhere, ever, has tried to use The Onion as a serious source for anything.

I bet you two are the guys who, when someone makes a joke to a group of people and everyone else laughs after the punchline, sit there with their jaws hanging open for a few seconds then try to explain how the premise of the joke is unrealistic.

It was the fucking onion for christs sake. :lmao:

Thumb, can you believe that Gulo - the "smartest poster to the board" - didn't even know that the quote "to each according to his contribution" was from Marx's The Critique of the Gotha Program?

THAT'S WHAT MAKES IT FUNNY!
