including 6 times today. Sacked 23 times all last year. 29 the year before and 36 in 2011.

I'm certainly not saying he doesn't have his issues but we have to do a better job protecting him. It's been really bad this year.

Remember, he threw very quick last season. This season, he's holding on to the ball longer. So I would say the Line didn't protect him great last year either. Obviously when the QB keeps it longer he gets sacked more often.

BTW it was an accident that I posted this on the General Board and not the Lions board...but it wouldn't let me delete the post.

That was my first thought...I'd like to see the difference in release time this year compared to previous years. Yes, the O-line has been terrible, but I wonder if the playcalling is also contributing to this.

The first game he seemed to throw it away more. Now he takes the sack and pretty much kills the drive

He has always held onto the ball longer with CJ out of the lineup.

Honestly it makes sense.

Breaking it down you can say Matt played well twice and not played well 3 times. It's an old record but that's not good enough ..too damn inconsistent.

oh weird...im pretty sure I said we could use a RT going into a season where Stafford will hold the ball longer in this offense than in linehans. nice job mayhew.

Is he holding onto the ball longer or has this offensive line just been pushed around in every game so far this season? I'm goin with the latter. This Oline is pathetic.

It's pretty obviously he's keeping the ball longer. But there's several reasons why..by plan, no one open, too much pressure, or dumbass. Doesn't really matter, the offense hasn't been stellar.

Oline pushed around. He has a ton of dropbacks where he got rid of the ball 2.5 seconds or less. And his time to sack stat isn't good for the Oline.

The offense is ranked 19th. They are playing below their talent right now. Having Calvin at less than 100% is killing them. But Calvin less than 100% is also becoming a familiar refrain. He's got to find a way to stay on the field. Stafford has had 2 good games and 3 bad ones. He's got to find a way to be better at football. The line is not good.

We should have used that 2nd round pick on an offensive weapon instead of wasting it on defense. :)

Maybe we should consider drafting more linemen?
Genius idea..

Doesn't matter on the second round...whoever Det drafted would be on the shelf anyway.
