Steam Summer Sale

Has anyone used steam link wireless? Everything is wireless here, no way to use a wired connection. If it was $2.50 and free shipping I might try but $8 shipping I want to make sure.. I read some reviews and they say you will have a huge load of problems at times..

I use it wirelessly, but I haven't used it that much. I got it last year during the Steam sale. A lot of games don't have that many really critical timing elements you can't adjust for. Some games you just can't find a controller mapping that works. I was going to play The Force Unleashed 2 through it and it didn't seem like everything mapped correctly and I tried to set it up myself, but it was frustrating enough that I moved on to something else.

You probably wouldn't want to play a fighting game or maybe a difficult FPS. You could muddle through, but the impact is noticeable. I suspect it impacted my critical hits in South Park: The Stick of Truth, but that's a small part of the game. It has zero impact on a game like Firewatch. I can definitely see some people flipping out over its limitations and I wouldn't want it to be my only way of playing games. It's a neat option to try out and see if it works from game to game, but I'll never count on it. I won't buy a game if I'd be disappointed if I had to play it on PC.

I'm 100% wireless as well. I had to play with some settings and do some trouble shooting but it works great now. I wouldn't recommend to someone that expects plug and play wireless for all their games out of the box. Might have to tweak things in the Steam/Steam Link settings. Nothing crazy though.

For comparisons sake: My internet is 50 MB/s DSL. The devices aren't very close to each other. My computer that runs Steam is in the basement and the router/TV are upstairs (and not directly above, I count 2 walls and the floor between them).

Thanks both. My speed is good, 300 down, 30 up. No worries there. My Laptop it has the 1060 GPU but not really gaming rig. I'm not really playing Top AAA games anyway.. And no FPS, they make me very dizzy. So I might take a chance.. I certainly won't flip out since I've wasted far more than 10 bucks on stuff that I don't use.

I was just mostly worried about wifi.. Same floor, and no walls, though a door or 2. So it should be okay. Hopefully it works better than streaming steam though my Shield TV

Thank again guys..

I easily stream high def Netflix over my wifi to the location of my Steam Link, but it's got a direct line of sight to the router. I would think it would be a comparable challenge to streaming high def video. Certainly no less of a challenge. If TV is any struggle, then the link might not work well. Don't know.

I was going to use it on my 4k TV. I already stream live TV on it and it runs perfectly. That's through a Fire TV. Nonetheless, for $10 it's worth looking at. Thanks. I've worked with computers as a job for most of my adult life so I don't mind a bit of troubleshooting.

realMyst: Masterpiece Edition is $6.29. Remastered version from 2014.

I remember playing the original Myst all those years ago.. Never finished it. Is this just a remaster of that or an updated game?

I haven't played anything other than the original. Myst was static images you clicked through like Google maps.

Myst: Masterpiece Edition, was a remaster of Myst, with better resolution and graphics, released in 2000.

realMyst, also in 2000, was 3D rendered environments you could freely roam through, so more than just a remaster. Many computers in 2000 couldn't run it. There are some changed elements to the game itself.

realMyst: Masterpiece Edition, is a remaster of realMyst. You have the option to play either way, google map click through or free roaming. Reviews say the free roaming is a mess because of the way the control scheme switches between moving the camera around and moving your selection pointer around.

It's just plain point & click for me. Thank you, I'm glad to hear that because that's the way I rather play. I might get it now. Thanks again..
