Tahir Whitehead, OLB, Temple

Height: 6-1. Weight: 233.
40 Time: 4.68. 10-Yard Split: 1.52 Bench: 21
Vertical: 37. Broad: 10-4.
Arm: 33 3/4. Hand: 10 1/8.
Projected Round (2012): 6-7.

4/25/12: Whitehead had a nice Combine performance including some real explosion in the vertical and broad jumps. He totaled 70 tackles with 13.5 tackles for a loss, five sacks, four forced fumble and one pass breakup in 2011.

Whitehead recorded 56 tackles, 7.5 tackles for a loss, two sacks and two forced fumbles as a junior. He is a quick, attacking defender who is capable of producing splash plays. Whitehead is somewhat undersized, and is a sleeper prospect.

the pick in itself would be baffling.....the fact we wasted a 5th and a 4th on him makes it borderline stupid.

Would it matter who we drafted? After 4th round, picks are useless, right mhughes?

:lmao:

Not when you draft in the late rounds based on need. There were about 6 safties on the board that could have started over Spievey.

And who says they draft like that? Or have you not been paying attention to Schwartz for 3 years? First its after 4th round, might as well go home they're all useless. Now its they drafted the wrong guys and suddenly you know all these S so well..I think you deserve another :lmao:

I find it funny, guys were clamoring for Polk since RD 4, un-drafted. Or some of those CB, Like Minnefield since RD 4 yet went un-drafted. A lot you guys know, lol.

i know they dont draft like that....which is why we will be starting spievey or coleman again this year. Its also why weve been horrid at CB and OL the last 10 years. Trust me...i get it...ive been a fan a loooong time. We dont draft starters in the late rounds. We draft guys that thrive in the frikken east/west shrine game.

I don't think you do, you can't make the distinction between Millen and Mayhew. Millens drafts shouldn't be in this discussion, he was the devil.

:D if millen was the devil you have to remember that Mayhew was his minion

You really think he had any decisions at all? It was all Millen..

I dunno man...starting Spievey again this year is kinda like my own personal hell. And its Mayhews fault....therefor maybe he learned a thing or 2 from Millen. To not consider need in your draft at all when you have below average starters on your team is slightly ridiculous.

maybe I missed it....what Safety were you drafting?

Markelle Martin, Antonio Allen or Ilkola all would have had a decent chance to start over Spievey. At the least would have provided competition for the job. Instead we used 2 picks to get a back up OLB and picked a ST/CB in rd 6 with a lot of those guys still on the board (Boise safety may have been picked by then...cant remember).

Also...if your considering need more than talent you may have picked a guy like Brandon taylor in the 2nd over a 4th string injured WR. Broyles will be great for us in the future...i understand how talented he is. But he wont do jack until hes :
1) healthy
2) Burleson is gone.

there were many options @55.... Konz, CB(the run hadn't started), Taylor(S), Curry(my pick), L David or even trade down

Correct....while i cant deny the talent they drafted...they didnt address many of our glaring holes imo.
