Markelle Martin, Antonio Allen or Ilkola all would have had a decent chance to start over Spievey. At the least would have provided competition for the job. Instead we used 2 picks to get a back up OLB and picked a ST/CB in rd 6 with a lot of those guys still on the board (Boise safety may have been picked by then...cant remember).

You mean those 6th and 7th round S? Yep, they were so good they were drafted in the 6th/7th rounds

Yep...and Spieveys so good a 6th or 7th rd S could easily start over him. Youre not understanding anything im saying lol. Mayhew doesnt draft guys in late rounds that play because he doesnt draft for need! Were going around n around in circles cause youre not listening lol. If he drafted to fill some of his holes in the late rounds maybe hed keep some guys around that can contribute. Martin, Allen and Ilkola were perfect candidates to "stick" when you have someone not talented like Spievey starting for your team.

I'm still baffled as to why this team refuses to find a replacement for Crayola...or at the very least, groom a future replacement.

So you're saying a 7th round S is starting for us? I'm sure someone has stats or info but what is the percentage of starting S drafted in round 6 or later? I bet its not high.

hmm, I thought his first name was Jonte? LOL
he's a little small for a safety 184lbs??

We could have drafted Al Green for all I know. Just read he could be moved to safety because it fits his skill set.
