Texas A&M gets SEC invite

I honestly don't know anything about va techs academics. But if the best school the big ten is getting is kansas mizzo or pitt, then I'm really hoping that the megaconferences don't happen.

As far as VTech is concerned, I think their academics are a little bit better than you think. Actually better than a lot of Big 10 schools.

lol who?? Maybe Nebraska and that's it..

You can add MSU, Iowa, and Indiana to that. They are one of the best architectural and engineering schools in the nation.

I'm in agreement here.

Pitt's big hangup right now is the Big East basketball conference and its strength compared to the others out there. Jamie Dixon is the best coach Pitt has had in either major money sport since maybe Johnny Majors won a National Championship with Tony Dorsett in 1976. Dixon's recruiting emphasis has been on the east coast with focus on NYC, NJ, and Maryland.

The interest he's drawn from schools all over the country and his willingness to stay at Pitt despite salary concessions can't be underestimated. He was very much against a Pitt move to the Big 10 when it came up about a year ago because of how it'd affect his recruiting in areas in which he's developed quite a relationship with high school and AAU coaches. The Big East teams play St. Johns in MSG and the Big East tournament is there. Giving NYC kids a chance to play in that arena is a pretty big draw for Pitt.

Given the horrible luck they've had with underperforming teams the past 10-15 years, don't be surprised if they look for a more basketball friendly move to keep Dixon happy. I could see them placating Dixon and going to the ACC should the offer come, even if the Big 10 seems to be the better option to most others.

That link to the NU board is very interesting. The myriad of comments after the article are pretty entertaining too.

If Notre Dame and Texas do join the B1G the all time wins list would look like

#1 B1G (Michigan)
#2 B1G (Texas)
#3 B1G (Notre Dame)
#4 B1G (Nebraska)
#5 B1G (Penn State)
#6 ??? (Oklahoma)
#7 B1G (Ohio State)
