The Limit Does Not Exist

I guess sgg and I are the only Mean Girls fans.

Here are a couple of thoughts:

It seems to me the Atlantic is mischaracterizing the Republican reaction to a degree. While not hopping with the dems on the impeachment train, also not every Republican is saying it is a ?nothing burger.?

Some Republicans? Reactions.

I wanted to use an article from the Financial Times but when I posted an attempt to link to it it?s asking to pay for a subscription. I didn?t really want to use CNN because CNN does sometimes have the Trump derangemeant syndrome but here honey pot Erin is basically reporting the same things that I read in the Financial Times.

Shockingly, virtually everybody talking about the phone call is interpreting and paraphrasing what the transcript contains based on their own political perspectives.

Here is the transcript of what exactly was released about the conversation. I think everybody should read it, maybe a couple of times, before formulating an opinion on what happened or didn?t happen.

I would say it's important to note that it's not a transcript. It's a memo approved by the White House for release, simply an overview of the call taken from memory of people privileged to the call.

That's not to say they purposefully left out damning details. Just that it's not a transcript.

And I would actually go so far as to say they probably didn't redact or leave out anything damning because the memo they released didn't look very good on Trump. I have to imagine they'd have cleaned it up before releasing it.

I'm curious to how the whistle blower's testimony will differ, if at all.

*edit* Also...this is soooo much better than the fucking Mueller report in that it's in basic English and not 400 pages long. An average Joe might actually take the time to read it and form an opinion rather than check out CNN or Fox for talking points provided.

Yes, that is correct, thanks for the clarification, it is being referred to as the transcript, inaccurately to a degree, relatively speaking, more or less, to a certain extent, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.

Here is the whistleblower complaint. I skimmed through it once; I?ll give it more of a full reading once or twice tomorrow, depending on the outcome of football.

Sheesh, these Republican spinmeisters are such morons.

I could be coming up with so much better talking points than any of them.

?Trump never mentioned anything in the conversation about aid to the Ukraine.?

?The favor had nothing to do with Biden. The favor was about Crowdstrike, and a server that might have been in the Ukraine rather than Russia, which possibly led to the wasted investigation that Robert Mueller conducted. All of that would have originated before the president was elected or even nominated. The President of the United States cannot launch such an investigation in the Ukraine, naturally he needs the help of the leader of the Ukraine to do that.?

?The president said nothing about quote unquote ?digging up dirt on Joe Biden.? Hunter Biden was involved in some very questionable activities in the Ukraine and Biden has bragged that he had the prosecutor who was investigating Hunter Biden fired-Biden was VP at the time, and if this was the case, this would have been an egregious abuse of power on Biden?s part. President Zelensky was telling President Trump during the conversation that he wanted to ?drain the swamp,? in the Ukraine, and acknowledged that he could learn
much from the president about this. The president just suggested that this might be a good place to start. President Trump doesn?t need any dirt on sleepy Joe Biden to beat him, I guarantee that.?

How did these rank amateurs get their jobs?

EDIT: Oh, and they should be accusing the Democrats of speculation with every rebuttal-because that?s what the allegations actually are - speculation.

The Dems are probably guessing right-but still they?re guessing.

In a parallel universe where a president actually could be charged with a crime while in office, I don?t see evidence to convict beyond a reasonable doubt.

They should use this line to and say ?the litmus test for impeachment should be this end in a parallel universe where a president could be charged while in office, the likelihood conviction beyond a reasonable doubt should be the standard. We Sean that the charges are purely speculative, and any of the allegations in a hypothetical quart room would be objected to as speculative and the objections would be sustained.?

The clip of Biden appearing to do what Trump claimed Biden did in the (not actually a) transcript begins @ about 1:00.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KCF9My1vBP4

Media Bias Fact Check describes RT News as being substantially right wing, but the clip speaks for itself.

Of course, in Biden’s case, he was fighting corruption; he wasn’t abusing power and using a quid pro quo for his own personal interests.

I meant this to be the Trump Zelensky phone call thread. Maybe the ?clever? thread title threw people off.

Anyway a little more movie magic/movie fun with Zelensky, who is reported to be a comedian.

It occurs to me that Zelensky looks a sort of like Jeremy Renner, prominent in the Mission Impossible franchise.
