We just saw something historic. Consider: StL was down 10 1/2 games in August and were considering trading Berkman. They were 3 out with 5 to play. They beat Doc Halliday 1-0 in Game 5 of the NLDS. The Phils won over 100 games. They beat a better Brewers team in the NLCS. They were 1 strike away from elimination (the lowest win prob. possible) in Game 6 and won.

Biggest error of the series: Whomever was not paying attention to where Nelson Cruz was playing in Game 6. Should of been in no doubles.

Second: Taking out Feliz in Game 6.

Third: Not starting Holland in Game 7.

My gut feeling is that the hobbled and hurting Tigers team would have also lost to the Cards, so I suppose that it is just as well that they failed to win the ALCS, they desperately need to plug holes in their OF, and esp. their IF, and acquire some depth in their SP by obtaining a #2-3 quality LH SP and a RP that can spot-start, that is NOT named Coke..

Cards now with 11 world series which is amazing.. Btw the Rangers choked.. I think Ron Washington made some bad moves this series as well.. He reminds me of Dusty Baker..

Absolutely. Game 6 management was turrible. He got LaRussa off the hook for phonegate.

I agree. A freaking miracle .. They were 1 strike away twice from losing the series. Freeze' gift triple that Cruz bailed on at the wall and Berkman's single the next inning.. What is amazing in that inning is that it was Descalso, Jay , and the pitchers spot coming up down by freaking two runs... Plus Tony had used all of his postion players so a pitcher had to bat third. Berkman got two strikes and bam single...
What a freak amazing game... Man i wish the Tigers had that kind of mojo..
