The Official MICHIGAN vs Nebraska Score Prediction Thread

Congratulations to Johnny2x2x who already congratulated himself in last week's Official Prediciton Thread for the Michigan State game. State won in impressive fashion and landscaping across Michigan has never looked better as Turf Managers from Monroe to Marquette seem to be trimming hedges and mowing lawns with just a little more pep in their step than normal ....

But it's okay, Michigan is still better in basketball and has smarter chicks!

Well, on to the University of Nebraska.

Nebraska went all Kordell Stewart last week against Northwestern and pulled a win out of its ass that seemed incredibly implausible with time winding down and despite committing four turnovers. Coming into the game with a record of 6-2 and 3-1 in Conference, Nebraska is in many ways Michigan's doppelganger --- a team that turns the ball over, plays inconsistently at times, with an offense that can score but a defense that also gives up points.

Ranked 13th in Rushing with 262ypg and 88th in passing with 206ypg, the Corn have managed to win ugly when needed and overcome some significant injuries this year.

That said, the Buggeaters got blown out by UCLA, should have lost in week one to the upstart Wyoming Cowboys and lost to Minnesota ...a team Michigan handled in Ann Arbor with ease. With wins over BigTen doormats Illinois and Purdue and another win against the mighty South Dakota State Jackrabbits, the 6-2 mark might seem misleading to many who have been surprised at Nebraska's lackluster 2013 campaign.

Coming off the ass-whipping in Lansing, the MICHIGAN WOLVERINES look to right a ship that started the season on course but then got lost on the road in Connecticut and then Happy Valley. Returning to the friendly confines of Michigan Stadium where suddenly very-criticized head coach Brady Hoke has never lost, MICHIGAN is the favorite in Vegas giving a full touchdown away, at MICHIGAN -7. The Over/Under seems in line with how the two teams have played this year coming in at 58 total points and the "experts" are rather split on predicting the outcome, seemingly unsure which teams will show up Saturday.

Forecasters call for 53 and Partly Cloudy, so weather shouldn't be a problem and regardless of the weather, at some point former buckeye Bo Pelini will make one of these faces ....because the dude is pretty much a total dick.

So post your prediction and some supportive analysis if you wish, but leave the woofing and barking for other threads ....

Michigan has a good run defense and Nebraska's beaten up at WR and QB. They won't be able to move the ball against you

Michigan wins easily to give MSU a 2 game lead in the legends with 3 to play

How beaten up is Gardner and that O line? Will they be a little shell shocked? Nebraska isn't all that good and they have no passing game.

UM 31 Nebraska 27

EDIT:

given that their strength on offense plays into our strength on defense, and they have no defense to speak of, I think this plays into our hands.

bigger win than expected:
Michigan 38
Nebraska 17

Minnesota hung 34 on them, we should be able to do better than that, and they will have to beat us on the ground which they can't do. Defense gets a safety.

My concern is that the team has a let down and loss of confidence after the loss to sparty. I hope not, but I expect them to struggle in the first half and then get their heads right in the second half. Gallon has another big game similar to IU, and the D scores on a fumble return to show the O how it is done.

Michigan 49
Nebraska 10

michigan 42
neb 28

someone should sent Hoke a loop of every fake sweep misdirection pass to the tight end that minn ran against neb.

MICHIGAN - 41
Nebraska - 23

Time to right the ship and get back to business...

Nebraska currently allows 217 passing yards per game and 182 yards rushing per game. Their run defense is terrible. It's a great week for that to dramatically improve for the Buggeaters! In waltzes quite possibly the worst run blocking o-line in college football. Definitely the worst in Michigan history. Fitz should average an astounding 3.2 yards per carry with plenty of runs for loss. Let's hope that DG can knock Nebraska's 39th ranked pass D down a few pegs and carry this tire fire of an offense to victory. Somehow I think he will. O-line, please don't get him killed.

Michigan - 28
Nebraska - 27
