I can't get over how unmotivated and tired stafford looked during BOTH of our two-minute drills to end the game

i mean wtfff.. you know you gotta go 80 yards and he takes the sack.. doesn't push the guy off to get up.. then just casually calls the play at the line as if it was the 1st quarter hurry up offense

listen, i am ALL IN on believing in stafford, i think he REALLY can be something incredible.. a top 3 qb in the league for years to come.. i guess he was doing so well the first few weeks i forgot that he's still a VERY young quarterback with plenty of room to learn.. but it would've been one thing if he at least was hurrying up and made a mistake, but to be so nonchalant about it just made me upset.

and lord knows jim won't put him on blast to the media, but he better have some words exchanged with him bout that.. he couldn't have been happy about it either

agreed. staff DID NOT LOOK RIGHT....

Well I just hope that Matt's inconsistency doesn't become a habit, or continues to show up like it has this season, in inopportune games, halfs, quarters or even during critical late-game possessions..Yikes!!

Got to remember, though, that Stafford cannot be considered as a seasoned vet, and its waay too early in his career to expect him to be as polished as he will likely be with 3-4 full seasons "under center" as yet.... even though that is what we Lions fans obviously want to see happen ASAP.

Something was off with him this game. Even in the post game interview, he was not accepting responsibility and seemed off.

Accepting responsibility for what? He didn't lose this game.

He didn't lose the game but he was pretty bad dispite his passing yards. He had a few terrible passes that should have been picked off and had some wide open WRs that he totally missed. I was pretty excited about the 5-0 start but looking back they probably should have been 3-2. Dallas gave the game to them and MN was also pretty lucky. I have said this before...this team isn't going anywhere without the ability to run the ball. The lions are good but SF is the better team at this point.

There is always games teams should have won but didnt. Maybe not to this extent but nonetheless. The loss yesterday doesn't change my view on what I think of about the Lions. They can compete and win against most teams. As "uninspired" they may have looked, they almost won that damn game. Andprobably should have. Hell, the Eagles only have 2 wins and its not like they've been playing a powerhouse schedule.

In all respect, we've won 3 on the road, one of them in Minny who might be a poor team but we haven't won there in a long time plus 2 ten win teams from last year and the NFCN champ from a year ago. And our only loss was to a 5-1 team.

So I'm happy.

And as far as running the ball, teams have won super bowls without a run game. It helps but its not impossible.

Not impossible....but very unlikely. I think in the Lions case it hurts even worse because the OL isn't very good and teams know that the Lions will be passing most of the time.

SF averaged 7 ypc yesterday.....u may be able to win not running it but you better be able to stop the other team from running it.

run defense is becoming very worrisome right now.

I thought and maybe I missed some things that besides the two big runs they did alright. Granted every week they seem to give up big runs. The promising part, lack of run defense and other underwhelmed parts of their game they are winning games. But I think we all knew the Lions were weak in some areas.

It beats 1-5 :)

maybe he wasn't 100%.. maybe he didn't get enough sleep the night before, maybe he wasn't feeling great who knows.. but I'm not going to worry about it too much for now.. let's see how the team responds next week then go from there..

Stafford was playing scared the whole game, and I really don't get why.

Even on the first drive of the game he was very uneasy and wouldn't stay in the pocket.

Go back and watch it.

Dude threw 50 passes in the game, or whatever, and i bet 40 of them were off his back foot.

What bugs me about it though, is San Fran didn't really get a good push up the middle. Most of their pressure came from the Ends, and Stafford was just completely reluctant to step up into the pocket and help out his Tackles.

Now, if it's pressure up the middle - fine. If the Nose was getting push on his double team - fine... most of the game though, that wasn't the case.

Justin Smith caused a lot of trouble, but after watching the game again, I'm not sure really how much of that was because he out-played Backus... I saw at least 10 Hurries/Sacks/Hits/Throw Off Back Foot where Stafford could have created a better opportunity by just stepping forward into the pocket instead of continuing backwards...

Not sure what the deal was...

.

Durant is back this week. As good as barbie was in pass D the last couple weeks he was AWFUL in run support vs SF. For being so smart Suh was all jacked up vs SF as well and dint know what the fuck was being thrown at him...he was off the entire game. Hopefully Suh remembers how to play and Durants presence helps get our run D back on track.

ps....stafford sucked but he did enough to win the game. I still blame spievey for sucking in run support and whiffing all game and Delmas/Carpenter for combining to cover absolutely no one in man2man coverage inside the 10 and giving up the go ahead score. San Fran did basically nothing the entire game if you take out the 2 huge runs by Gore and the Ginn punt return (illegal block in the back no call).

I agree with everything except Stafford doing enought to win the game 2 minutes and 3 time outs and you have to do better than a checkdown to Pettigrew and three INCs.

Anyone who does not think Stafford was off is funny.. That two minute drill was horrific. But then there was no energy from the Lions all game. bad calls aside this game should have been put away earlier.. Did Stafford take a hit in the head because he seemed to get slower as the game moved on... By the way NFL... Thanks for admitting your refs stink...

So he had an off day, whoop de do. Brady threw 4 picks in a game this season. It happens.
