Listening to Kendrick Lamar's section 80 for the first time.

Pretty good so far.

He's ok but I think he's waaaaay overhyped. I was pretty excited to hear him after listening to people/mags rave over him and I was kind of disappointed.

BTw today I've listened to

Agreed.

He's good, but definitely overrated, the album had some good songs, but a lot of filler songs.

I thought Section 80 was pretty damn good, personally. When I listen to the album I don't skip very many tracks, so there wasn't that much filler for me.

Currently listening to Cole World: The Sideline Story. Leaked yesterday, and I'm pretty sure it's surpassing my expectations. Hip hop fans definitely need to give it a listen.

Most mixtapes are free. The artists give them away to stay relevant, pay respect to the fans and promote for upcoming albums. Sits like Livemixtapes.com and datpiff.com are supported by the artist. If they don't want them downloaded they only allow you to stream but I'd say 95% of them are downloadable.

Great way for unknowns to get recognition before trying to sell an album as well.

No question. Talib is one of the most disappointing artists of all time imo. His mixtapes and features are brilliant and then his albums are just average at best. Maybe Mos Def brings out the best in him.
