So Trump is apparently going to flagrantly flout the customary "blind trust" every President going back to Nixon (and maybe further) has used to insulate himself from wheeling and dealing for his own personal benefit while leading the country. Setting up a blind trust requires: 1) you sell all your assets first, so that as the beneficiary you do not know what they are and cannot engage in shenanigans that increase their value; and 2) someone independent - not a family member or close friend of the beneficiary - is appointed trustee, overseeing how those assets are invested.

In Trump's case, not only is he not selling off his assets, but he's appointing his own kids trustee of it. It's tough to call it a blind trust when you know what's in it and the people managing it are on your payroll.

And he's allowing his kids to sit in on official state functions! And he's barring the US media from the meetings (also not customary) so we only learn they occur when reported in foreign media (link). So we only knew he met with the Japanese Prime Minister because the Japanese government released photographs of the meeting (and lo and behold, his kids were there).

Trump also had a call with Argentinian President, and is denying reports he used the call to demand building permits for a office tower his associates are building in Buenos Aires ("the journalist who broke the story, Romina Manguel, explained that Trump’s business partners in Argentina, Felipe Yaryura and Moses Yellati of the YY Development Group, are trying to get permission to build a 35-story tower, Trump Office Buenos Aires, on the city’s July 9 Avenue.")

Drain the swamp!

Drain the swamp!

Derr derrr DERR!

Pretty much thinking that impeachment is imminent after 1-20-17, if he continues down this road.

Yeah.

It's one thing to go along with establishment-DC corruption, like Eric Holder declining to prosecute banks then going back to defending them in private practice. or Dick Cheney getting his $20MM "retirement bonus" from Halliburton then handing them billions in no bid contracts. humanity had already set the bar pretty low & so the rules in place allow that sort of thing.

but Trump selling out national interests, or using them as a bargaining chip to get building permits...? you gotta figure at some point career officers in the State Department, CIA, Pentagon, etc are going to sell him out. I don't know who will stand behind him at that point, especially since he chose a VP it looks like most of the GOP would rather be president than him anyway.

maybe that's why Trump is already flouting basic ethics... he figures this isn't going to last long anyway, so he might as well make hay while he can. then resign without an impeachment as long as they agree not to prosecute him.

NPR reporting that knucklehead president of the Philippines just named teh real estate developer building Trump Tower Manila "special envoy" to the US. another potential conflict of interest added to the pile...

also, a reminder: Trump isn't actually building any of these buildings himself. He's not an architect, and he failed miserably as a real estate developer. He's only licensing his name to these projects because there are apparently A LOT of people - not just in the US - who are very insecure and have very bad taste and believe their existence is validated by living in a shiny building with "TRUMP" garishly written in big letters on the side of it.

No no no it's a digital thing where they made the actors and the set about a zfilion X bigger than the giraffe. I'm in the bizzness and I know this.

In real life that guy is actually Irish.

when I google that commercial, one of the things I get is a pick of an actor who resembles that guy, named Murphy (I think). Is that who you mean?

I hate it when they put costumes on pets.

I think it's cruel.

we used to put a Michigan bandanna on CanineChamp during football season. I thought he seemed to hold his head a little higher on walks when he had it on.

and back on topic, sorta: Trump just named Nikki Haley as amb. to the UN, even though he previously said (via twitter of course) that she was an embarrassment to the people of South Carolina. around the same time, Anne Coulter tweeted Trump should deport her once he got into office.

Trump is going to have to invest in some technology to replicate the memory hole in the Ministry of Information that George Orwell wrote about. Although, I guess, judging from the continuous support Trump received, among close to 45-48% of the population doesn't give a shit.

Kuwait government (allegedly... but they are not denying it) switches major event from Washington DC Four Seasons, to the Trump hotel there, following pressure from people inside Trump's organization. link to report.

The Senate should just get the impeachment papers filled out now, so that they're ready to go @ the start of business, Monday, January 23rd. This is a farce.

In Hell on Wheels he played a German immigrant - dudes got range. His character, a butcher was oddly enough, murdered by a pair of Irish immigrant brothers. The brothers bludgeoned him to death with hammers then chopped him up with his own butcher knives and fed him to his own pigs...

Well, my dogs have Michigan dog collars, but a dog collar isn't really dressing a dog up - technically they're supposed to/have to be wearing a collar.

I guess we can look forward to lots of stories of idiots shooting themselves trying to figure out how a gun works. I wonder how many of them are stockpiling organic perishables.

I love guns so I can't speak for the far left, but weren't the majority just against 'assault weapons'? If they're sticking to what their talking points were it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility that they're just as well versed with hand guns and rifles as your standard conservative.

Unless you're referring to toddlers, then I agree, those idiots are going to fill the news channels. Not sure of their political affiliation though. http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/us-toddler-related-shootings/2016/10/20/id/754521/
