What is amazing is the the Tigers still almost draw 20,000 fans a game, and at only 45 games are still in 24th place out of the 30 teams. Tigers do have some loyal fans that is for darn sure!

At 864,679 the in 45 games the tigers are at 19,215 per game this season. It will be tough to get that mark over 20k the way they are playing but there is a shot still.

Tiger attendance by years. Best year was 2008 when they had 3,202,654 come through the turnstiles. What is amazing is from 2006 to 2016 the Tigers averaged 30,000+ fans a game.
Tigers have had 4 season over three million fans. Those were 2007, and 08. Plus 2012, and 13.

2007: Season after its first WS appearance since '84.

2008: Miggy acquired, and season after Maggs won AL batting title.

2012: Prince Fielder signed as FA and after JV MVP season...plus after return to postseason with ALCS appearance.

2013: Season after WS appearance and after Cabrera TC/MVP.

You have to go back to 2003 the last time DET had this bad of attendance, which makes sense.

Depending upon how many losses that this team winds up with after the season ends, next season could and probably will start out, if not finish even worse in attendance. I half-expect the FO to try mitigating a further drop-off by maybe bringing up one of their stud SP prospects to join their rotation.

I hope they bring up 3 of them next year.

Mize
Manning
Fadeo / Skubal
Fulmer
Zimmerman

Cool...then the Tigers might set dual team/season records for the fewest runs given up (roto only), and the fewest scored!!

They would need to dump Zimmersuck before the ASB.

I could see to start the season:

Boyd...they might choke and retain him
Manning? or Norris
Fulmer if healthy...otherwise Faedo or Skubal?
Turnbull
Zimmersuck

Norris long relief role instead?

Stumpf?
Ramirez?
Farmer?
Hardy?
Reininger?
Gascantara?

Jimenez setup again?
Rosenthal closer? Greene is the most likely to be traded.

There is no point for Zimmermann to make the team next year. Most MLB teams would just eat his last year.

Turnbull
Fulmer
Boyd
Mize
Manning/Faedo/Skubal

I also expect at least one of our young pitchers to be included in a trade between now and the All Star Break next year for positional help. We have no one worth anything (potential All Star). While Jake Rogers and Daz Cameron are intriguing, they do not project to being anything but MLB regulars, not All Stars. We need those types, but for this team to succeed, we need a few positional All Stars.

If that is the rotation, I have no problem them releasing Zimmerman. But if they release him only to sign another Tyson Ross type player to replace him I will be pretty pissed.

well, they are not going to contend next year so why not just have him pitch? They are going to have to pay him $25M regardless.
Exactly he gets his money anyway so sit his ass. He does no good. I rather have some young guys, Norris, Fulmer, Trumbull etc. Zimmerman should not be pitching. I'd cut him.

I agree...if you are going to pitch a rookie, just cut him. But I wouldn't cut him if they are going to sign some veteran like Tyson Ross to replace him. Then you are effectively paying your #5 pitcher $31M

Why start some of their best pitching prospects' clocks so soon? Even if they can trade a couple or a few for future All-Star worthy positional prospect(s) then he or they won't be enough or ready for the jump for at least a season. At least give Mize another season in the minors, not b/c he couldn't make it, but the roto and team won't be anything like when Porcello was rushed up, the Tigers had a damn good and seasoned roto for him to join as the 5th wheel.

I am also not so sure that Fulmer will be ready for the major league season, or immediately, he might have to begin the season in AAA to knock a lot of rust off after or if he can pitch his share during spring training.

Natural progression of prospects is to go from AA to the Majors.

Erie:
Faedo 23
Manning 21
Mize 22
Skubal 22

Toledo:
Burrows 22

At some point, you stunt their growth if you just keep them in the minors. All five of these pitchers should be in the majors by next year sometime, or you aren't allowing them to naturally progress.

There is absolutely no positive in keeping Zimmermann beyond this year. None.

Agreed. Plus you have the next tier of pitchers (funk, Soto etc) that need to be moved to reliever roles soon. Keeping them as starters is just prolonging the inevitable

Will CI start the clock on all these pitchers at the same time they can all go to ARB at the same time and walk after six seasons, if they all pan out?

If they all pan out that would be incredible. Doubtful but incredible. Even if they are all great I doubt all 6 leave.

The way I look at it you have 6 years before you hit free agency (7 if brought up after the first month-5 weeks) you might as well get them up in 2020. Maybe it will excite the fans.
