Tigers part ways with struggling righty Pauley.
from the Tigers official site

Tigers unconditionally released Pauley...
No longer with Tigers, released David Pauley said "sorry to be leaving. This is going to be a juggernaut of a team."

Leyland on Pauley: "It just didn't work out. That's just as simple as it is."
Beck
David Pauley gone. David Purcey gone. Two bullpen trades from 2011 were not ones the Tigers or Dave Dombrowski will celebrate.
Henning

and the team placed Victor Martinez on the 60-day disabled list.

Tigers sent Brantly, Casali, Leyland, McCann, Castellanos and Henry to minor league camp.
Avisail Garcia will be optioned to Double A Erie on Thursday. Hernan Perez will be optioned to Single A Lakeland on Thursday.

Toodleoo DP, maybe the Mariners will give him another shot in the minors.

idk...This move seems to be a bit premature. Maybe not that he was going to be as effective as his time with the mariners last year, but it just seems he never really got a chance? Didn't he sit in the bullpen for like 10 days between relief appearances with Tigers?

and why not, if there is a pending deal we don't know about yet coming up, not include him as another body in a trade?

Of course maybe too, they already had their minds made up and let him go early to have a better chance to hook on to another team.

Percival, Perry, Purcey, Pauley...maybe the Tigers should try to avoid acquiring anymore RPs with a surname beginning with the letter P for awhile.

Maybe Leyland just didn't like Pauley to start with, for whatever reason(s) which may be why Jimmy rarely used him late last season.

You might be on to something...

and regarding your other post, iirc many of us were asking that same question last summer, that Leyland didn't like or want him.

Down to Balester, do you think Villarreal makes the pen?

I would take Marte north before Villarreal.

True confession: I am merely repeating what I read earlier. But damn, it's funny:

As Clemenza said in Godfather I:

"Pauley? Ya ain't gonna see him anymore."

Leyland did not like him for whatever reason. I am not sure he got a real chance.

Rebbiv, yeah I like Marte better than Villarreal at this point in time.

Clemenza....lol

We assume it was Leyland, but it easily could have been Jeff Jones who had a beef with him.

Get on the wrong side of either, and your days are numbered.

angels sign pauley,
from mlbtraderumors

Angels signed RHP David Pauley to a minor league contract.
The deal does not include an invite to big-league camp. Pauley, who was released by the Tigers earlier this month, had a 3.16 ERA and 44/22 K/BB ratio over 74 innings last season between Detroit and Seattle. He figures to find his way into the Angels' bullpen at some point.

I don't know what kind of RP he was or if he had a beef with someone but I couldn't tell if he could pitch or not. It can't be easy pitching once in a two week period.
