The Tigers have announced the following roster moves:
*Placed LHP Matthew Boyd on the 10-day IL, retroactive to September 9, with a left elbow strain.
*Selected LHP Ian Krol from Triple A Toledo.

Matthew Boyd plans to visit Dr. Keith Meister in Dallas next week for an evaluation. Will probably seek multiple medical opinions. The odds of him returning to pitch this season are, obviously, slim. Meister just performed Tommy John surgery on Jake Rogers

Detroit has so many pitchers out due to injuries and Covid-related issues that they now are forced to bring Ian Krol back once again. He's been DFA'd twice this year.

What will be the real sign that the Detroit Tigers have turned the corner in their rebuild? When they no longer have players DFA'd multiple times who keep returning to the organization after they clear waivers.

In 2018 and 2019, the Detroit Tigers led MLB in chasing pitches over 35% of the time to rank last. Last year, they ranked #29 in the shortened season. Since taking over, Manager A. J. Hinch has addressed this problem and the team is now chasing 32% of the time to rank 8th.
