Reliever Al Alburquerque is available to pitch tonight after struggling with mobility from a hip strain, as the Detroit Tigers open a two-game series against the Royals in Kansas City. Game time is 8:05 p.m. Eastern.

Just so nobody panics, here

regarding tomorrows game;
Pitching update. Turner pitching Thursday, Verlander Saturday and Scherzer/Fister will split tomorrow's game.

Tigers rotation change: Jacob Turner will start Thursday vs O's.
Fister will pitch after Scherzer tomorrow at royals.

For those wondering about the Scherzer/Fister split tomorrow, it gives Leyland flexibility in lining up his starters for post season.

By moving up Fister, Leyland gives himself the option of starting Fister in Game 2 on regular rest.

I agree.

Hard for a starter to come into a game that's already underway.

Not saying Fister can't do it, but I don;t like asking your starters to adopt bullpen mentalities for a game, then send them back to starting.

Look how long it took Coke to readjust to being in the 'pen again.

I can understand the ??? of having a starter come into the middle of a game, it is a game that means little in the sense they have clinched the Central already, and even with trying to win as many as possible for more 'home field' advantage into the playoffs, it does give him Leyland the option now to start either on the same amount of days off between starts.
a bit questionable sure, but for me, not a redflag.
Man I'm just happy they are in the playoffs, anything is possible now including winning the "last game" of the playoffs/worldseries.

lol. where did the head shaking smiley come from??

Can we just take Penny somewhere and shoot him? I suffered through the dark times of this organization and he is the worst SP I've ever seen for the Tigers. Give me Doug Brocail or Brian Moehler over this guy

Penny could chop 3 fingers off his pitching hand and still be better than Dontrelle Willis was.

Justin Thompson wasn't the worst pitcher ever, he just wasn't anywhere near an ace. He was a 3rd starter at best IMO

Bonderman last year was pretty brutal, as was 2008 Nate Robertson..

My point exactly, this guy saying Penny is the worst starter he's even seen on the Tigers tell me he has not seen much.

Plenty have been worse.

I stand by my statement, this guy has been pathetic this year, he's a fat slob and brings nothing to the table. If he touches the field during the playoffs in any capacity I will be pissed.

I agree with most of your statement... I won't say he's the worst all time, but I certainly dislike him almost as much as anyone.. Maybe Bonderman is more hated I'm not sure..
