Lowest Chase Rate on Elevated Pitches, min. 500 seen (not just fastballs):
1. Grossman 7.5%
2. Soto 12.6%
3. Muncy 16.5%
League average is 30.2%
Everyone's going wild for Juan Soto seeing 174 high fastballs and not swinging at any of them.
But no love for Robbie Grossman who's seen 271 high fastballs and not swung at any either.

For those of you approaching the hire of Ryan Garko with an air of skepticism.. a little like me.. I caution you?DET didn?t fire everyone for no reason.. and I promise they had specific questions and guidelines they sought out with this hire ..
Hinch Fetter Hubbs Graham we?re all part of this mix.. Garko must have impressed them for a reason because Im positive there were multiple good candidates.

MGorosh

A. J. Hinch was the first. Now add Ryan Garko. The Tigers are finally hiring younger in-demand talent who come from outside the organization, are trained in the latest skills and strategies and offer fresh perspectives.

Both Garko and Fetter bring with them the experience in working with some of the best baseball minds - Andrew Friedman, Gabe Kapler and Farhan Zaidi. Hinch, of course, draws upon the Front Office talent of the Houston Astros.

With the exception of Ramon Santiago, all of Hinch's primary coaches come from outside the Tigers' organization, too. George Lombard, who also came from the Dodgers, was with the organization at the same time Garko was managing the Dodgers' AA farm team.

Show Notes:
The crew discusses the hiring of the new VP of player development, Ryan Garko.

The Tigers impressive wins over the White Sox.

"Miggy Day".

The Baltimore Orioles starting staff does not hold a candle to a Tigers team from the past.

A.J. Hinch has done amazing work so far this season and the numbers based on projections show it.

Reyes another single. He's been crazy good the past 6-7 weeks.

RBI single for Haas to tie at 1 a piece. Unfortunately instead of 1st and 3rd bad base running and got caught between 1st and 2nd.

Dan Dickerson just pointed out that the Tigers do not have a winning record against any AL Central foe in 2021. That needs to change in 2022.
Any theories on that? Familiarity with Tigers weaknesses?

The Tigers pitched well and had their chances, but made too many mistakes at the plate and on the bases.

Tigers can not beat the royals for nothing. What it's going to take; 9 HOF 7 Cy Young's and someone to kick them in the rump for motivation!
