Tigers lineup vs. Twins, Game 46: Scherzer vs. Pavano. 43 for 123 = .350
Oakland Press

Quintin Berry power/avg. not sustainable but defense, speed, walks (11% MiLB rate) are. Not long term option but serviceable for now. TigsTownPaul.

Max Scherzer on mound as Tigers try to string together consecutive wins.
If Max Scherzer can put together a second consecutive strong outing, the Detroit Tigers will have a good shot at winning back-to-back games for the first time since April 18.
Scherzer (3-3, 5.73 ERA), who will start for the Tigers today, struck out a career-high 15 on Sunday in his most recent start, a 4-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Tigers will use predominantly the same lineup today that they used Friday night in a 10-6 victory over the Minnesota Twins. Ramon Santiago will start at second base and bat ninth in place of Ryan Raburn, but the rest of the lineup is the same.
If the Tigers can beat the Twins today, it will give them their first two-game win streak since they completed a sweep of the Kansas City Royals more than five weeks ago. The Tigers will face right-hander Carl Pavano, who is 2-3 with a 4.91 ERA this season.
Plenty of Tigers have had success against Pavano in the past. Prince Fielder is 5-for-11 (.455) with a home run against Pavano, while Jhonny Peralta is 7-for-18 (.389) with a home run. Alex Avila (6-for-16, .375) and Miguel Cabrera (11-for-36, .306) each have two home runs against Pavano.

Start of Saturday's Tigers game pushed back by weather in Minnesota, start tentatively set for 2:30 p.m. ET on and off rain.

Need to get Peralta going now...

Funny thing is, as Rod Allen noted: the guy is hitting the ball well, getting real good swings and he appears disciplined, yet he can't buy a hit. Ergo, I expect him to get out of his funk sooner rather than later. No Inge or Rabum is he.

Amazing now that there's no air conditioning for them to turn on for the opposition...fucking Metrodome...

Boesch is probably wishing the garbage baggie from the 'dome was out there rather than that giant assed brick wall though.

If this game was being played in the '30's it would be Crazy Eyes Scherzer vs. Porn 'Stache Pavano.

They are swinging the bats well so far this series, hopefully it's the start of something big.

2-0, the big guns getting it done. Now jump on Pavano.
