RHP Jason Foley has been selected to the Major League roster. To make room on the 40-man roster, OF Jacoby Jones has been designated for assignment.
andddddddd.......so it continues..JaCoby Jones DFA..another one bites the dust..AJ Hinch..is now in control..what will we see from Jason Foley 95-99 FB straight as a string and a nothing burger breaking ball..there is something for Fetter to work with..I like it..tweaks required
bye bye JaCoby..the purge continues..yes Hinch hates you..Avila and Littlefield are sad today..very old and sad..the know they are no longer in charge
a good FO will work out a small deal for JaCoby..this FO..will likely get back nothing and nobody will claim him..grasp..Cameron Hill and BAddoo all are ahead of Jones in the pecking order for playing time..so he hold no value to Detroit.
BTW here's how much AJ Hinch thinks of JaCoby JOnes..they DFA him..and kept Bau Burrows on the 40.
A.J. Hinch cited OF depth in the system as the reason for DFA'ing JaCoby Jones. Also talked about consistency, which has been the crux for Jones' career.
"That is what separates guys from being established and guys from being interesting but not yet bonafide everyday guys."

So what are the biggest takeaways from the Detroit Tigers DFA'ing JaCoby Jones?
Players are being rewarded for what they do. And if they can't do it, roster spots are being opened up for younger players to show their stuff.
Jones was making $2.65 mill and arb eligible after this year. Likely to make more, the Tigers decided the investment wasn't worth it and money could be better spent elsewhere.

The hottest topic in baseball this week is all about the sticky stuff. Insiders say 80%-90% of all pitchers are using it, but many have focused on the big names who got big contracts. Cole....Bauer.....Scherzer.... and Verlander to name a few.
In the case of JV, the fired Angels clubhouse manager provided text evidence in court of JV asking him for some. Others report how much of a jump JV made in pitching when he was traded to Houston.
If there's anything good to come out of this, it appears the Tigers weren't cheating on the level of other teams. The Dodgers, on the other hand, have MLB's highest spin rate with numbers that appear unnaturally high.
