Trump's Trade War with China not going according to plan

Two choice quotes

1. From Reuters here:
U.S. negotiators have tempered demands that China curb industrial subsidies as a condition for a trade deal after strong resistance from Beijing, according to two sources briefed on discussions, marking a retreat on a core U.S. objective for the trade talks.
2. From Bloomberg "U.S. Farmers Fear China Trade Deal Will Leave Them Worse Off":
Some U.S. farm groups fear that President Donald Trump?s terms for easing his trade war with China risk leaving large swaths of American agriculture worse off than before the conflict began.

Many producers are alarmed by signs that the administration would accept Chinese purchase target pledges for commodities like soybeans and pork without a promise to lift retaliatory tariffs, said industry representatives, some of whom spoke only on condition of anonymity to avoid consequences for publicly criticizing the administration.

.
?It?s only going to get better because we?re doing trade deals that are going to get you so much business, you?re not even going to believe it,? Trump said at the American Farm Bureau Federation annual meeting in January.

People familiar with the trade negotiations say there has been no agreement to remove retaliatory tariffs, and the issue is likely to be one of the last resolved. Several farm groups are quietly lobbying the administration to reject any agreement maintaining the agricultural levies but have not yet received any assurances from the White House.

?Our guys are being told, sorry, you guys are going to have to pay the price,? Powers said. ?It?s a hard message to accept.?
This is typical of Trump's entire career; guy is all talk, no substance, and in the end he slinks out with his cut - assured by selling out the very people he pretended to be working for - leaving failed businesses in his wake.

Whenever he goes up against people with a pulse, he loses, because he doesn't prepare - he doesn't have the attention span for it - and has no balls, doesn't care about anything but preserving his rep as a "billionaire dealmaker" so he can go on and con new marks at a later date, and they know it.

Regarding China trade war..He is completely correct

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Donald Trump said on Friday that he would not be surprised if China held out until after the U.S. election in 2020 to secure a trade deal in the hope they could negotiate with a different U.S. president.

“I don’t think personally China would sign a deal if I had a 2% chance of losing the election,” Trump told reporters at the White House just days before top U.S. officials head to Shanghai for another round of negotiations.

“I think China would probably say: ‘Let’s wait. Let’s wait. Maybe Trump will lose and we can deal with another dope, or another stiff.’

So it looks like it?s going to be a Russia versus China cyber war to win the 2020 United States presidential election.

But clearly Russia will cheat for Trump again and China will cheat for the Democrats.

Big Tech just cheated against Tulsi.

Big tech censors and deletes nearly everyone that doesn?t fit the chicom liberal neo con agenda

As good as that story sounds accompanied by the guitar, it has never been scientifically, logically nor legally proven to be true.

I don't know what that means but it sure seems very specific.

For christsakes, why is it that hard to figure out?

These are Chinese communists that came over to America and became neo cons, and pushed their neo con agenda under Bush... THEN became liberals. There are millions of them. Just point in any direction. Not hard to see. They are a huge political force in AMERICA hurr

China opens soymeal market to No. 1 exporter Argentina in 'historic' deal

BUENOS AIRES (Reuters) - China will allow the import of soymeal livestock feed from Argentina for the first time under a deal announced by Buenos Aires on Tuesday, an agreement that will link the world’s top exporter of the feed with the top global consumer.

Argentina had tried for years to break into the Chinese market, the biggest consumer of the meal it uses to feed its massive hog herd. China, with its own crushing industry to protect, had steadfastly resisted.

The U.S.-China trade war, however, strengthened Argentina’s hand, prompting China to expand its soymeal import options, market sources say.

With this agreement, China's purchase of the 2nd largest port in Brazil in last 2017, and Trump's untimely tariffs, soy farmers in America may never bounce back from this.

This is probably not the straw that breaks the backs of the American soy farmers.

China imports only small amounts of soymeal currently, none of it from Argentina.

Currently, as in before the deal was reached. That's the part that's worrying and what I took as the entire point of the article. That's a whole untapped market where China can move on to and from the looks of it has been preparing to do for a bit now.

My takeaway from the article is that China has it's own soymeal industry it has been protecting and what little importing they did up until now came from places other than Argentina (probably mostly the US). It's not like China is in any position to abandon it's agricultural industry or any subsector of it and suddenly increase imports of this type of stuff.

It may hurt US farmers on the margin and it could scare some readers into thinking we're going to lose this trade war, but we still buy WAY more stuff from China than they do from us. If keeping that business means we have to continue in a lopsided trade agreement with China, I say suck it up soy farmers. Besides, I can't claim to advocate for free trade then freak out when China finds another, possibly cheaper source for soymeal or whatever. It could cost Trump some farmers votes, especially if his Dem opponent suddenly loves farm subsidies but I don't take this as an indication that this strategy is failing.

I also wouldn't take it as 'he's losing the trade war'. It's not my field, I don't know enough to say it's working or not. I'll admit that on the surface I don't get how we're 'winning' but again, that doesn't mean I'm going to shout from the rooftops that it's a catastrophe, regardless of how much I detest Trump.

My concern stems from having several friends that are in some way involved with soy farming (Wisconsin) and this has been hitting them brutally hard. I can't say for certain if it will effect their votes, to be honest I don't know if they're all Trumpets to begin with, but I know that they're very unhappy right now.
