The look on Valentine's face after Avila's Homerun was priceless. Worth every penny spent. Made the weekend. Baby what you think of that. Did that thing really get out of here? The look of I can not believe what I just saw. Man what am I going to do now!

It may be the beginning of Round 2 of the Cherington-Valentine Beantown Feud.

Cherington is placing his own stamp on the team he assembled, So far, it's a stamp with no adhesion.

If what I heard is true about Cherington having last say on the 25-man roster, Bobby may outlast Cherington at Fenway Park.

Maybe, but most Boston fans seem to be criticizing him for bringing in both Salty and Melancon, who they blame for blowing games 1 and 3.

Boom goes the dynamite ! After AA's homer !!!!!!It was pretty funny.... Bobby V.looked like he had his heart ripped out after that bomb.... I agree the look on his face was classic...

Yep it was!
Valentine wanted to go to a team in serious contention. He even turned down managers jobs after applying for them in recent past. It was his way of getting a better grasp - needing a little longer time-frame, on those teams' situations.

I'll bet he had no clue that Cherington would get off to such a slow start. He probably figured that being tutored by Epstein for such a long time would pay-off instantly.

But is Cherington MLB's player-personnel version of the NFL's Matt Millen?
Want to see Fenway Park half-empty by August?
I do not recall the last time Boston fans turned their heads on that franchise.

For the fans sake - and for keeping the Yankees on their toes, I am rooting for Boston to bounce back.

who gives a fuck about boston fans? ask kc, most of them are gigantic arrogant assholes. the best thing to happen to them would be the sox ending up in last place this year. fuck em.

In case you never noticed, New York and Boston hate each other. It's wonderful seeing these two teams spend $400+M on team payroll and hardly ever win anything special. I want Boston fans to continue having a serious contender and keep this money / bad blood rivalry going.

BTW- KC knows why Boston fans are so arrogant. He knows what that town is comprised of. Perhaps if you did, then you wouldn't be so hateful of their higher-than-normal standards.

I really don't see both Valentine and Cherrington making it through the season. One or the other gets fired, IMHO. It's funny to see how many in Boston are already saying it was a mistake to pass on Gene Lamont. LOL!

You're assuming that I dont also want the Yankees to fail hard too.

Maybe you'd like to explain your little demographics comment as well. Im quite aware of Boston's demographics but aside from the recent glut of championships across all their sports inflating their egos, Im not sure what you're getting at with that one.

They never tried to interview Al Avila either. Avila has plenty of experience working with high payrolls. Has plenty of experience overseeing the minors. Plenty of experience scouting the majors.

I am surprised Avila hasn't wanted to be top-dog somewhere. I realize he's paid like a real GM. But still you'd think he would desire that special badge and name-plate on his office door someday. I also don't think Avila is handcuffed. If he wanted to leave badly enough, Ilitch and Dombrowski would let him go.

If Leyland thinks so highly of Lamont, then why does Legendary Lloyd take over games in his absence? One would think Jim would at least 'switch-off" year to year.... allowing both managerial reins for a few games every season.

I don't think Lamont has managed a single game since April 2006.
C'mon Jim! Lets play "share-it"
Also Jim - get booted out of a few more games this season. Get the blood flowing and let Lamont manage a game or two.

Because Lloyd is a bench coach. He isn't on the field like Geno and Brookens. He's the logical choice to assume the manager's role when JL gets tossed. He also has management experience like Geno does.

Did anyone notify Boston about this in February?
Geez - not even qualified.
Poor Geno! Tigers board member hate you for your 3B work and lack of bench coaching knowledge.

..... oops - forgot to mention your beer-belly too.
Those are small dugouts in Fenway. Surely Lamont wouldn't have worked well there.

Never been a Valentine fan. Seems like one of those managers that need the spotlight, like Ozzie Guillen. But, it might be too early to shovel dirt on the Sox.

It is very early and they will be in the hunt all year (Boston). They are a very good team. Toronto is probably not as good as everyone thinks, Tampa has excellent pitching so peg them a playoff spot, NY will score a lot of runs and a good bullpen, and Boston has excellent depth at position players with a nice starting rotation. When they get Bailey back, they will settle down.

They might be a decent team, maybe even a good team but I don't believe the Red Sox are a very good team.
