Thanks to your sons byco, and all the vets/current military on the board; hungry (and his wife) MQBU off the top of my head...

thank you, President Bush for protecting us and keeping us safe.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

good poem. today used to be solely in memory of that war, but after WWII, most countries changed the name.

I guess everyone felt a little silly about fighting more wars after all the hyperbole thrown around by political and military leaders during and after WWI, it being "the War to end all wars."

The biggest irony is that if those leaders hadn't completely ballbusted Germany with the Treaty of Versailles, Hitler might never have come to power and WW2 might not have happened. Its a shame France ignored Woodrow Wilson. Ah well.

I hate that shit when that happens.

indeed, he probably wouldn't have. a more economically stable Germany wouldn't have gone over to a bunch of bullying extremists like that.

I know, right? Fuckin France, man.
