Washburn returning.....

There's obviously no pressure for us, but there is for Mayhew if he wants to keep his job.

Mayhew, sure. But he could get to the playoffs once every 4 years, not win a playoff game - and keep his job. The Ford's have a high tolerance for crap.

I would guess that's because we consistently ran Bush up the middle on 1st down. Might be wrong, but I think that definitely affects that stat.

That might go back to the fact Crayola needs to be replaced.

If Mayhew and co. made the playoffs once every 4 years the wouldn't just keep their jobs, they'd get 18 million dollar extensions. Tell me I'm wrong.

If that was true then he'd be due for a 18 million dollar extension if they make the playoffs once in either of the next 2 years...

You are correct. A key to this broken down city..as well.

I think that Mayhew's job is safe at least through the '15 season b/c Hiring a new GM after the '14 season would likely result in his wanting to replace Caldwell and his staff for his own selection. Caldwell will most likely be given more than one season to improve the team and its record...barring perhaps an epic collapse by the team next season and going 1-15 or 0-16. But if their implosion was the direct result of early season-ending injuries to several key players, even going winless might not lead to firings in the FO and/or the coaching staff.

If I had to guess, is say they get 3 at least three years, barring epic collapse like you said. Like Mitch said everyone thinks the pressure is on, we're the Lions, what pressure? We employed Millen for nearly a decade.

I agree that Robinson would most likely upgrade our O-line, but like you said in an earlier post, we currently only have one WR who's not crap. If I had to pick between Robinson and Watkins, I'd take Watkins. If it was between Robinson and Gilbert, that'd be a more difficult decision for me. I'd probably take Robinson.

Then welcome to the Robinson train lol....cause Watkins will be long gone.

Does anyone rule out an epic collapse as being an option? Just glancing over next years schedule I put it at 33% chance we win 5 games or less, 52% chance we win 6-8 games, 15% chance we win 9 or more. Stafford sucked in an offense hes comfortable with....now he has to think??? We will see how the WR and secondary improves. And yes...I did want washburn to stay....but he didn't get much out of the dline last year....that has to change drastically.

Robinson/Matthews will be a close call. Robinson is a mountain of a man and a true road grader in every sense of the word, he'd put small ends into the second row of the stadium. I have to see him more in pass pro. He's not as natural gifted I that area and like other big men tends to lean and lurch. Auburn isn't a traditional drop back qb offense on most plays making it tough. Needs to bend at his knees. Washburn is a good coach so that may not be a problem. Matthews to me has the edge right now in my mind but I have to watch some more film from this year when the slid him to LT.

You can't rule it out obviously. Look at 2012 and how we finished this year...pretty f'n epic if you ask me. Schedules are tough to nail down wins and losses even in season as this year surely showed where we penciled ourselves into the playoffs. Remember when we beat a good Seahawks team at home, that looked like a sure L. I would probably agree with you on the percentages if we kept Schwartz and co. but love or hate the new guy it's all an unknown for the first year of the new regime. The dline wasn't great but wacky stunts, lack of blitzes, and a secondary that was forever in trail technique didn't help.

LOL Love the precise percentages you got there bud. Maybe you should work for Vegas or something.....

Exactly. Our schedule looked BRUTAL before the start of the season last year but then during the season that completely changed and we had one of the easier schedules.... And still couldn't make the playoffs :O
