I always thought hockey was the strangest sport, stat wise, as we've seen how often one team can dominate on shots yet lose the game/series. Wings have done this numerous times, the most recent being against Nashville, of course. Yet, to me MLB has some oddities as well. Note that the Rangers have outhit the Tig's 43 to 12 and outscored them by an even dozen, 22 to 10. All Detroit has to do is win tomorrow (and I have tepid but real optimism that Smyly will do the job) and they will have evened the series on Texas.
As I say, these stats are mind blowing. Maybe not as mind blowing as playing a stiff who's batting .059 b/c he's similtaneously stealing 5 extra large from the Pizza guy's money pit (can you say RUBBING SALT IN THE WOUND?!!!!!!!!), but it's close.
