"During a recent ESPN interview, host Colin Cowherd mentioned to Seinfeld that Chris Rock and Larry the Cable Guy intentionally don't perform at college campuses because the students are too politically correct.

"I don't play colleges, but I hear a lot of people tell me, 'Don't go near colleges. They're so PC,'" said Seinfeld.

He continued, "I'll give you an example: My daughter's 14. My wife says to her, 'Well, you know, in the next couple years, I think maybe you're going to want to be hanging around the city more on the weekends, so you can see boys.' You know what my daughter says? She says, 'That's sexist.'"

Seinfeld said college students don't understand racism and sexism. "They just want to use these words: 'That's racist;' 'That's sexist;' 'That's prejudice.' They don't even know what the f - k they're talking about."

The whole thing reads like a bad comedy routine in and of itself. His comedy act has always been more or less PG-13 anyway. What does he say that any college kids could even find remotely offensive?

He might have a point. When's the last time you spent a significant amount of time on a campus? The degree to which some people feel like they should be free from being offended does seem to be on the rise. The whole idea of avoiding triggers and such...

I'll bet it's gender stuff for Seinfeld. It may be mild, but that's my 1st guess on what people might complain about.

Well, I've been hearing that "PC liberals" had taken over college campuses since the 90's. Is it true every year? Is it getting worse?

I think it's more that these guys' routines (Seinfeld, Rock, Larry-the cable guy) were never that funny to begin with & now they are just old and out-of-touch.

The same routine by a younger comedian might work, but having an old rich guy tell you that college girls are too frigid or up-tight... well, that's not a PC thing, but it is a "man this guy is creepy" thing.

I think it is different now in select circles. Look at the example of sexism he gives. That wouldn't have been called sexist in the 90's. Language that embeds assumptions or stereotypes about race, gender, or sexuality being offensive is in a new place compared to where it was before. But I think it's mostly just twitter and social media, not people actually saying things to your face. If you're famous, and you say something on a campus someone doesn't like, there's no shortage of people that want to swamp your twitter feed. I don't think it's that big a deal if you aren't at least a little bit famous.

Wow. You must have no idea how important Jerry Seinfeld is. Watch some Comedians in Cars getting Coffee until you catch him waxing philosophically. Making people laugh is pretty much the most important thing in the universe. Comedians are the one thing justifying the continuation of the human race.

Comedians aren't that important right now because the president is actually funny.

The stupidest thing I've heard cowherd said was when he was talking about the new UCLA football coach a few years ago, when the new coach came in there had been a tradition at UCLA for the seniors to climb over some wall and skip the final practice of the year.

So the new coach said that anybody who did that wouldn't be coming back the following season, and cowherd was going on and on and on about how great this was that the coach said that.

I was thinking "dumb ass-they are seniors-they're all ALREADY not coming back next season."

I was a fan of Seinfeld, though not as obsessive as some. through the 90's I watched occassionally, but not as religiously as I watched The Simpsons.

When I see a guy like Jerry Seinfeld lose his sense of humor and turn into an old crank, I wonder if it's inevitable... will this happen to all of us someday? I still believe it is not, and it won't. When you see it happen, there are usually enough signs early on that the guy leans that way to explain what happens to him when he hits 50 or 60.

Cowherd is awful now (age 51 according to Wikipedia.) I can only imagine how completely unbearable he will be in a couple more years. He'll probably end up on Fox News.

When I was a Junior at UM, Seinfeld became what then became "must see TV" and the kids from "back East" used to make a point of watching it. I didn't really like the Jerry Seinfeld/Richard Lewis style of comedy and thought the show was a tad too "New York-centric."

There is an episode that takes place at a Yankees game and some extra in the background of "fans" was some douche in Sammy who bragged often about the fact he was on the show.

We still watch it on TBS and if I am traveling, I will put it on for background, but it's to the point where some of the jokes and episodes have been played out. Wonder how much longer it stays in prime rerun slots before being put out to Cable TV pasture..?

I liked it in prime time and used to like it in re-runs, but yeah, it feels kind of dated to me.

I rarely watch it anymore.
