What did caldwell bring to this team?

We were supposed to be more fundamentally sound, less drops, penalties, and more professional. None of those things are true and we often look more disorganized on offense than we have seen in a long time. Offensive lineman not knowing who to block, and recievers constantly not being on the same page. Every single position group got worse this year on offense. Tight ends, oline, qb, running backs, and even calvin. Tate is the only exception. He was supposed to hold his players accountable yet jeremy Ross has a ton of drops and fumbles on the year, as well as reggie bush constantly looking like he doesn't know what he's doing out on the field and making mistakes. The only thing caldwell brought was austin.

Caldwell similarities to his year in Baltimore.

Joe flacco throws 22 interceptions, Ray rice has career worst year. Their sacks go from 38 to 48 Baltimore went from 11th best rushing team and 4.3 ypc with 17 rushing touchdowns to 3.1 ypc being 30th with 7 tds... From 25 ppg to 20. They were top ten then went to bottom ten....

Enjoy this playoff year fellas..it isnt to much further to a terrible collapse yet again..

I'm not one to brag on Stafford, but he has a career best interception rate and still threw for 4,200 yards. The offense has struggled through injuries to Megatron and 3 out of the 5 starting OL positions. Also, this team may not be disciplined, but we're doing a good job of avoiding personal foul penalties at bad times. It seemed like last year it happened almost every game.

Yes, the offense needs to get better. We all know that.

Quit being a whiner. It's playoff game-eve. Fucking enjoy it until it's over.

promote him to coach...drop th expressionless doofus that roams our sidelines fucking up the clock management every game.

He brought them a great defensive coach and a terrible offense coach

I'm good with Austin. Just not a fan of people trashing their own head coach on the eve of going back to the playoffs for the 2nd time in like 15 years.

A winning record and a winning attitude. And the first time we've won this many games since 1991. We are +7 in wins this year and that's even with some of our stars not playing in a lot of games.

I'll take it and enjoy it while I can. You can sit around wait for everything to collapse again (it very well might). This is why I say I don't think Detroit fans actually deserve a winner. They can't let go of the past. Enjoy the moment of seeing the Lions win games for once.

this is why fans cant get over the past....I see no resemblance of a winning attitude. We had every opportunity to show we turned the corner this year. We fell flat at almost every test.

He brought a "no quit attitude". He also brought respect for your fellow coaches. The Lions didn't respect Schwartz. They seem to like to play for Caldwell...

But is his respect the right kind of respect? Where are the players held accountable? Reggie and ross prove this with many mental errors.

In his first year he managed to take a team to the playoffs that usually makes it about as often as Halley's comet orbits. However, I'm pretty sure the reason the Lions are in the playoffs is because they had a pathetic schedule, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Plus, no more fist pumps after a win, that alone is enough.

14 less turnovers and 11 wins

Like Schwartz in 2011 when we came back from 20 plus deficits three times?

The team has enough to be a 10 win team with a favorable schedule, he won 11. We beat Green Bay at home which is is his signature win, which we won by defense! Teryl Austin FTW! literally.

I'm not hating on the guy 11 wins is 11 wins but it's fair to ask what he's brought to the table.

Hell Mayhew wanted Wisenhunt! Our best option is always the opposite of Mayhew's first choice.

Serious question for all.......

Caldwell has given or cost the Lions how many victories.

I'll start.

I'll say he is -1.

Most of that is his decision to keep Freese and his seeming lack of accountability toward Lombardi.

If we are brining coordinators into the mix +4 again Teryl Austin's defense has been a revelation, as bad as Lombardi has been that is how good Austin's defense has been.

I remember him trying to piss away atleast 3 games we were going to win with ridiculous play calls, challenges, etc.

Don't compare Caldwell to Schwartz..

Favorable schedule my ass. Nobody was saying that back in August. Most of this board had us winning 6-8 games.

I told you what he brought to the table. Respect, a winning attitude, championship pedigree, experience.

And EVERYBODY wanted Whisenhunt. The fans, media ....ALL of us. You're going to sit there and bash Mayhew because of a poor move by the Whiz??? Weak as fuck, bro...

You didn't get the memo?! Swear to god this is the only fanbase in the NFL that does it. Makes it easier i guess if we lose? I don't fn know ....it's weird.

I personally think that Caldwell is responsible for the team's success this season. There was so much wrong with every aspect of the team that I can't imagine it all being fixed in one season. I think it's the start of something really good if he can keep Austin, and Lombardi's offense clicks with them, provided Lombardi is any good. I bet money schwartz would have had this same team at 6-10.

At the core, the team feels a lot different, and I give credit to Caldwell for that. The next step from what I can tell is their composure in "big games" which I think will be fine once they get a few under their belt. Dallas is a good start to turning that corner.
