What did caldwell bring to this team?

Don't compare Caldwell to Schwartz..

Favorable schedule my ass. Nobody was saying that back in August. Most of this board had us winning 6-8 games.

I told you what he brought to the table. Respect, a winning attitude, championship pedigree, experience.

And EVERYBODY wanted Whisenhunt. The fans, media ....ALL of us. You're going to sit there and bash Mayhew because of a poor move by the Whiz??? Weak as ****, bro...

How can you say it wasn't a favorable schedule? List out 4 toughest opponents, you'll see we didn't play much besides Green Bay and New England. Who cares what teams in August looked like. Just because Bears sounded good in August didn't make them good in December.
Lions had an easy schedule, that's ok to admit.

You didn't get the memo?! Swear to god this is the only fanbase in the NFL that does it. Makes it easier i guess if we lose? I don't fn know ....it's weird.

Meh I don't mean too. I still enjoy winning and think our team has a shot just because of the talent it has. I guess it bothers me that I feel like he's held us back so much this year when we could be one of the best balanced teams in the league.

But without austin we're probably picking in the top 10. I know caldwell brought him on board so that should be his credit. I guess I'm just not enthused to see what happens after he's gone.

Caldwell was touted to work with QB to help Matt out..yet he's not any better. He had nothing to do with defense, much improved. I'm not sure anyone can praise Caldwell. Though I wouldn't compare to Schwartz..he's not anything special at this point.

Why this team can't win on the road against above .500 teams is a mystery to me..or even at home against good teams.

At this point I think Tony is just trolling like his boy, LKP.

Ints are down...that's better (but I still expect more for an overall #1 draft pick),

He brought Austin in, and no credit there?

He brought in more professionalism...which showed in close games. A bad call with Schwartz as HC and this team would have imploded, They stuck together with Caldwell and came away with Ws which would have been Ls.

Can't win at home against good teams? 7-1 this season with a W vs. that non-good team Green Bay.

They need a signature win to get over the hump on the road. That could happen today, to me it all comes down to #9 and if he can get hot.

There are a lot of similarities to this team and the NYG teams in the 6th seed. #9 gets Eli hot and they can surprise this year, at least a game or two, which would be pleasing.

INT are down because he's playing safe but its not like he's only thrown 6. And with the TD's also down..meh. Credit for Austin, I guess but it's not like he knew he'd turn the D around that much.

Professionalism? I don't think so. Most coaches bring that, well except maybe Schwartz.

One game won at home against a good team is success in your book? We played an absolute cake schedule.

When does number 9 ever get hot? Maybe he has a game or two he does well against bad competition just to shit the bed the next 3-4 games. And Caldwell was the QB guru..who made Peyton ;-)

Rest my case.

2013 - mid 80's rating for Matt. 2014 - mid 80's rating for Matt. I suspect it's not Caldwell or Schwartz, it's Matt.

I was not a fan of the Caldwell hire but we are in the playoffs in his first season. The offense hasn't been very good or consistent but I think they will get better the more familiar they get with the system. I don't expect a miracle run through the playoffs but hopefully this is a step in the right direction.

The discipline thing is completely inaccurate. The team looks exactly the same as they do under Schwartz. People doing dumb shit, coach has had some piss poor time management, horrible challenge last week, and the team is still near the top of the NFL in penalties.

He brought a calming influence to an often schizophrenic team.

What did Caldwell bring to this team? I think the only thing he brought was a good DC

I still haven't seen enough evidence to say Austin is good. For all I know, Gunther was that damned bad.

You'd think a team with three first round defensive lineman, a second and third round LB, and a top free agent linebacker, along with a 2nd round corner, and a valuable free agent safety should be pretty damned good.

But under Gunther they played like shit.

Now under Austin, a former DB coach, they are first in the league against the run, and 13th against the pass.

Maybe Austin is an acceptable coach that didn't kill them with bad play calling, and this is the talent level we should have been seeing all along.

Based on track record of Gunther and Austin, it seems easy for me to think that Gunther was really that damned terrible, than to believe the players got a new coach and went "OH! I get it now! This is how you play football!".

I mean really, Gunther was absolutely terrible, both here and in K.C. I am fairly certain a mentally deficient blind chimpanzee could play call better than Cunningham.

i wasn't sold on the hiring of Caldwell either, but with that said, 11-5 and a playoff birth. Hard for me to argue with the results.

We were supposed to be more fundamentally sound, less drops, penalties, and more professional. None of those things are true and we often look more disorganized on offense than we have seen in a long time. Offensive lineman not knowing who to block, and recievers constantly not being on the same page. Every single position group got worse this year on offense. Tight ends, oline, qb, running backs, and even calvin. Tate is the only exception. He was supposed to hold his players accountable yet jeremy Ross has a ton of drops and fumbles on the year, as well as reggie bush constantly looking like he doesn't know what he's doing out on the field and making mistakes. The only thing caldwell brought was austin.

Caldwell similarities to his year in Baltimore.

Joe flacco throws 22 interceptions, Ray rice has career worst year. Their sacks go from 38 to 48 Baltimore went from 11th best rushing team and 4.3 ypc with 17 rushing touchdowns to 3.1 ypc being 30th with 7 tds... From 25 ppg to 20. They were top ten then went to bottom ten....

Enjoy this playoff year fellas..it isnt to much further to a terrible collapse yet again..

......

Well, what I said about Austin today is what I said about him then.

Right or wrong, I'm consistent.

Caldwell brought a return to status of league laughing stock is what he brought, terrible terrible coach..I blame Peyton manning

Give gym shorts a second chance?
