How many thought the Tigers would be playing on Oct 13? Not me.

winning the Central was enough for me. I didn't think we had the guns to go too much further. then we beat the Yankees and that was the cherry on the top.and now we are playing Texas with a beat-up team, the way I look at it, we are playing with house money, it's the next 2-4 years I'm expecting better things from this team.

I did. I told a Cleveland fan Verlander would get 18 wins, Scherzer 17, Porcello 15, Penny 13 and Coke 12. Which gives our starters 75 wins. That would have been enough to get into the playoffs. Once you are in, I expect to finish.

wow

I just wanted the Tigers to win the ALCD title for the first time, like I have every pre-season, since '06, esp. before they acquired Fister and Young, whose performances afterwards, as well as the team building up a double-digit lead in the division, and coming within 3 games of having the best regular-season record in the AL, made me think that they stood an excellent chance of advancing to the World Series.

Well, they have made it halfway there, but sure looks like they just had too many slumps, injuries, and age-related issues on offense, as well as RP meltdowns, and defensive/coaching/managing blunders, to be able to finish the job. It is part of the game of baseball though, and only one team can win it all, so there will always be at least 7 MLB teams and their fans who will inevitably become disappointed each and every postseason.

Very happy with this season, and if Mr I really wants to spend some more money that can only mean better things for the future, if spent wisely. Problem is not alot out there in free agency. Sign Aramis Ramiriz, Mark Buhrle and trade Turner in a deal for a quality young 2b. We need some more speed, somewhere, somehow.

Tigers need to win three in a row so I can see them in the World series again... You get this far you need to finish... But it appears the Rangers have a much deeper team right now...... i sure hope JV has a good game today!!! Tigers need to pull a 1968...

I think they shape up nice for 2012. W/Fister, Max, JV and 6 inning Rick, they hava top shelf SP group.

The Tigers need 2 or 3 more good BP arms and a healthy DY & BB. As you can see....the main difference between the Tigers and Rangers is the Ranger's deep BP

They still need an IF. If they have the same 2nd/3B platoon we'll have too many good rallies stopped just like 2011. We need someone who doesn't k a ton who has solid defense and a solid bat. Not easy but right now it sucks. But of course with Inge post season success it wouldn't surprise me if he is listed as the FT 3B for 2012.

If you can get a quality 3B or 2B I would be all for that....I just don't know if they are out there. I wouldn't mind Santiago getting the job at 2B.

I'll think about next season when this one is done. And I don't want to hear about when the season started BS. We got to the ALCS and underperformed. There were games there for the taking and we choked.

I always heard Santiago was not a good option as a full time player. Though he played well down the stretch. And at this moment he'd be my top choice among the current Tigers.

But we need a 3B. We have one who is a decent hitter IMO, but is less than average on defense that when playing FT could strikeout 200 times. We have another who stinks at the plate, has slightly above average on defense and also can strikeout 200 times. We have a third who I think is better suited for a utility PT role.

I'm not sure I could handle it well if we have the same trio of 3B in 2012.

I thought winning the central was a distinct possibility. I just seemed to me that the White Sox and Twins had taken significant steps backwards. The Tigers' were the only team that had really improved their roster IMO. Well the Twins pitched like crap and got DEVOURED, not bitten, by the injury bug; and the White Sox faded. The Indians were the biggest surprise to me and it was shocking they challenged us for as long as they did. Didn't expect to make the ALCS though, and now I think we still have a decent chance to win it.

Be nice to have a lefty in that rotation.

It'd be nice but I'd bet there at least 20 teams that would take this SP staff over theirs in a heartbeat. Talent, youth, good contracts.....Can't recall a staff that shapes up like this ever in Detroit. They have a chance to be very good for a long time.
