the Lions started the season 2-0?

I guess I could look this up somewhere, but I'm lazy...

A year before they went 0-16. They started 6-2. The rest is history.

I cant remember 3-0, Im sure they have, but I've followed this team for over 4 decades, my memory is a little blurred

Im trying to remember 6 wins in a row...probably did it in 91' with the Utley "thumbs up" year...or the season we played SF on monday night, with all the orange "hunters" int he stands looking to get the big buck Fontes..lol..classic, I think they may hove won 6 in a row, maybe 94 or 95 to make the playoffs??

Make way for the irrelevant stat man

The last time the Lions won 6 in a row was 1995 between November 12 and December 23, they won 7 in a row

If I didn't miss anything, the last time the Lions started out 3-0 was 1980 where they started off 4-0 and finished 9-7, won the NFC Central but didn't make the playoffs.

ah yes, Billy Sims, 1980. That was a nice start to the season

They came out with Detroit Lions version of "Another One Bites the Dust".

Which quickly was changed by the Channel 7 Detroit sports anchor, Al Ackerman to "another one beats our butts", after the Lions began losing after that 4-0 start. It was also the year of the infamous Thanksgiving Day game that season, when the Lions lost in consecutive plays vs the Bears, punting with less than a minute left in the game, being up six, to the Bears returner who promptly ran the ball back into the Lions' endzone for a game-tying TD as time expired, then losing the coin toss, and kicking off in OT to the very same Bears returner, who promptly again ran the kick back for the winning TD in what may very likely still be the shortest OT loss in NFL history.

I will never forget that game, I turned the TV off right after whoever his name was (too lazy to look it up) scored again, just absolutely stunned, but back then, there of course were to be waaay too many more reasons and seasons yet to be stunned by the Lions to come.

I was with a bunch of people watching that Bears game. Last second TD, "okay boys lets get ready for OT" - oops. I remember seeing a half a dozen Lions trying to catch up to him, left sideline. I was 15. That one stung a bit.

I still remember that season in 95 when they started off 3-6 then went on a 7 game tear with the top offense in the league only to lose to Rodney Peete and the Eagles in the playoffs. Got blown out.

3-0 is looking good. Also in 95 the Raiders started out 8-2 only to lose their last 6 games and miss the playoffs. The Lions have started out 3-6 and made the playoffs and 6-2 and missed the playoffs. Can't really count on anything.

The Lions have started 2-0 8 times since 1980 and only made the playoffs in one of those seasons. So much for that 70% a team starts off 2-0 they make the playoffs stat.

Lions haven't started better than 4-0 since 1956, with Bobby Layne, and since they just blew out the Chiefs with the widest margin since 1957, and Stafford became the 1st QB since Layne in 53 to throw for 300+ yards in a Lions opener...I'm all for the connection here.

You wonder where they got the 30% who didn't make it from? Us. :-[
